Why Turkey is the wise choice to handle Cypriot oil/gas into Europe.
This is an all encompassing plan to resolve both the Cyprus problem and the transfer of Cypriot oil & gas into Europe. Below you’ll find a draft generalized copy of each party’s prerequisites for this scheme to work:
Turkey’s commitments:
1. Establish the necessary infrastructure for the oil/gas to travel from a southern port in Turkey underground into Europe.
2. Remove all Turkish military forces from Cyprus and transfer full authority to the RoC in accordance with UN resolutions.
3. Resettle all post 1974 Turkish settlers and any other willing citizens in Turkey in accordance with HR international conventions.
4. Forsake all claims to Cyprus and abide by international laws with respect to land and sea belonging to the RoC.
Advantages for Turkey:
1. Major EU accession hurdle (The Cyprus problem) eliminated and a new push for the opening and evaluation of all blocked accession chapters.
2. Free oil/gas for Turkey’s domestic needs for the next 50 years.
3. Commission and/or royalty from the transport of oil/gas into Europe.
Cyprus’ commitments:
1. Establish the necessary infrastructure for the oil/gas to travel from a northern port of Cyprus to a southern port in Turkey.
2. Dedicate her self to assisting Turkey’s EU accession and partnership with oil/gas.
3. Remove all Greek military elements, institutions, and ties with Greece from the island.
4. Forsake any enosis aspirations and serve and promote the unique Cypriot culture.
5. Greece must recognize the independence and sovereignty of Cyprus, the unique character of the Cypriot culture, and forsake any further political and cultural interferences on Cyprus.
Advantages for Cyprus:
1. Cyprus’ enslaved territory is liberated and Turkish settlers relocated to Turkey where they belong.
2. The infrastructure for the transfer of oil/gas into Europe comes at a significantly reduced cost due to the shorter travel path and far shorter underwater pipe laying.
Needless to say that you’re welcome and encouraged to post your constructive feedback on all this.
