Archbishop Makarios III was a master politician although he would not have liked that title as he looked down on most politicians. The only biography I can find on this man is a 1971 biography written by P N Vanezis- not exactly a deep and penetrating one. I found Oriana Fallici's Interview with Makarios ( Google ) enlightening. Are there any in depth accounts of Makarios' life that shows more about the man, how he thought, what drove him after his reluctant return to Cyprus in 1948 etc?
Although I never met him, I was in his presence and what a "presence" that was. Love him or hate him, he was the consumate performer.
