Hey everyone,

Haven't asked a question for a bit, but I am coming either in April or May to your fine country, and want to rent a nice house on or close to a beach for a couple of weeks of vacation. As I am pondering a move here at some point in the future, I want the wife to really love the area we enjoy our vacation at--being as she kind of has to agree to move there

Anyway, where would you stay and rent a house, with the thought that could someday turn into a lifetime deal? All thoughts are appreciated!

Limassol. Paphos is tacky and full of vulgar, drunken Brits.

Why not consider the east coast? Beaches are much nicer east of Larnaca. The Troodos mountains are also worth a visit.

Well it depends "diablogun" ........ of your ages, way of life, driving....etc.
for example if you prefer a more laid back way of life a village thats about 30mins drive from town will be ideal and there you might find that the cost of life and rents are more economical. Paphos is surely cheaper than Limassol on renting and/or buying, but you can also find good deals in Limassol, it all depends of what is appealing to you and your wife..... and u dont have to be rich to find the ideal location

Limmasol [sic] is a built up endless sprawl of suburbia. If you want a relaxing holiday, some treks, great restaurants and you have the money, then Paphos area is the place to be.

Thanks for the replies all. I am 41 and the wife is 33 with 2 kids so I want a relaxing area that my wife will say "hell yes I would move here" to

Any ideas on the best website to rent a house on?

I will rent a car, but it would be nice to be able to walk to someplace with at least a good pizza place to gourge myself. We should be there two weeks

For limassol if it will not be in town, i would stay myself in Erimi or Episkopi village (east of Limassol where prices arent as high as on the west Limassol area) its near the sea, both villages are big and full of action and if you happen to be in CY during the easter celebrations you might be able to see some of the traditions.
On the west side of Limassol you can try the villages of Moni is the smallest of the three, Pyrgos is bigger but without much to offer, Pareklisia is bigger, has restaurants, and it even has the "santa marina retreat" villages. If not you can always try Germasogia village which is bigger than all the last three, its in the outskirts of limassol, with the sea front which is packed with hotels. For all the above mentioned villages except Moni( as im not sure) theres an up to date bus service these days.
