To get back to the "Turkish Leadership's" Policy of Self-Segregation, here is the first para from another letter by Ihsan Ali, this one to the UNFICYP Commander dated 05.11.1965

By means of this letter I wish, above all, to appeal to your human feelings. I hope that your human feelings will lead you to take more radical measures in order to save the Turkish community from the Turkish terrorists who are similar to Nero.
I felt I had to write this letter, not for the purpose of expressing any political views, but because the tortures to which the Turkish community is subjected, due to the Turkish terrorists, tear my heart nearly every day. It is really a pity to see the Turkish community suffering unnecessarily and for no reason at all on account of the attitude of the Turkish terrorists especially at a period when mankind is trying to conquer space.
Now I should like to point out the following facts:-
Some Turks who returned to their homes are being threatened by the terrorists in order to make them abandon their homes and properties and to return to their former miserable camps.

If there was no segregation there would have been far more deaths and disappearances of innocent TCs, safety in numbers was the name of the game.

Very interesting document, Bill. Proof if it was ever needed that the TMT terrorists and the TC leadership deliberately followed a policy that led the TCs into segregation, isolation and away from peace and co-existence. That is why I maintain that taksim was a campaign in reality not against enosis but against Cypriot independence and peaceful co-existence between GCs and TCs. Whereas the GCs had long since abandoned enosis as a goal, the TCs were (and still are) pursuing the TMT's policies of violently-enforced self-segregation or "taksim". In effect, the TCs are still the dupes of Ankara and are still sacrificing their community in pursuit of Ankara's policies.

I am extremely shocked to hear the allegations of the representative of the Turkish Government that the Government of Cyprus and the Greeks are planning a general attack on the Turks of Cyprus. As a Turk and as a Cypriot I categorically deny such allegations which emanate from two sources: either the Turkish Government must have received false and misleading information from the terrorists in Cyprus, or it is camouflaging its efforts to attack Cyprus. If the Turkish Government believes the information received from the Turkish terrorists and the Turkish leadership in Cyprus, who try to satisfy their own personal ambitions and to serve foreign interests without considering the unpleasant situation which may be created, it is very distressing.

You mean the TMT were rounding up and murdering Turkish Cypriots for their own good?
