Turkey knows that it has to vacate Cyprus, but as Turkey always does is pushing to see how far they'll get. Turkey needs to save face towards the TC's but knows at the same time that this issue has been holding it back to EU membership for a long time. Soon they'll have to sacrifice something in order to get into the club.

What talks the EU path for Turkey is in limbo land and will not go anywhere and they know this.

Turkey is not going to leave Cyprus and the fact that no solution can be found will guarantee their stay, if only you GCs were clever enough to agree a solution that would give you what you want their departure

seriously, you sound as if you are like 14. You are blaming a few GC's from Cyprus and ignoring the bigger picture being the EU. yet you are happy to support an intransigent stance because the Greeks are rightly intrasigent about succumbimg to Turkish backwards and oppresive ways. Maybe Turkey finds herselve in such disadvantages positions because of her own doing. noone is forcing her to behave the way she does

And you sound like you havent got a clue what you are talking about, I have made it no secret that I am not a great fan of the EU so Turkeys dead duck EU progression takes away the GCs EU leverage...the only reason you people entered was to gain an advantage over Turkey now thats been frozen it appears you have nothing to force them to do as you wish, they even refuse to meet one to one with your leader as they do not recognize the south in its current form.

As for intransigence the GCs have everything they wanted including indirect enosis with Greece all they have to do is be seen to want a solution to keep the refugees quite, why share what they have for a few more square miles of land to make a few aging refugees happy they will all die out in time anyway, when they can keep all to themselves 63% of the island and 100% recognition and milk all the benefits that go with it. Isnt intransigence also a Greek word for GC mindset

You do not speak on behalf of Turkey. The official line is very different to what you are making it out to be. The so called Turkish Cypriot leader has made all the Turkish Cypriots out to be Turks, through and through. Eroglus politics are Erdogans politics and vice versa. If I was Turkey, I would withdraw the EU membership application immediately. I would be embarrassed something rotton to be exposed as someone who preaches and persues a double standard.

Yiou may have a bit of paper which says you have some right in th republic, but Turks dont have any rights in Cyprus.

Not at all.

As long as Turkey wants to be an EU member and as long as the whole of Cyprus territory remains as a EU territory, the GC's and the EU's leverage against Turkey is ALWAYS going to be there.

Even if Turkey makes a suicidal decision to end her own EU accession talks, the EU member state Cyprus's EU territory factor will still remain, which means that, the GC's and the EU's leverage against Turkey will also remain....indefinitely!

Your ONLY hope was the AP of 2004, to have prevented such leverages against Turkey by the GCs and the EU. From here on, there won't be another chance to repeat another AP to do away with this pestering leverage against Turkey.

You are only fooling yourself and a few ignorant GCs who follow and support your every word, what has this "leverage" gotten the GCs? as long as Turkeys EU path is frozen by this so called leverage it no longer has any effect left as i do not see Turkey doing anything or showing and real desire to enter the EU. Leverage is only as effect as the impact is has and the usage as to make the other side do what you want and good for Turkey they have not succumbed to anything the GCs demand. In fact they have told the EU if they are forced to choose between the EU and the TCs they will choose the TCs everytime....much to your annoyance.

...much to your annoyance little Cyprus (among other players) have forced Erdogan to ramp up his hysteria, and in the end he will cause a war for the internal consumption of his electorate; of course Cyprus (and everyone else) will be to blame again.

...what prevents the hardship this will bring on the Turkish people to say 'enough', to him?

...no elections, since the Army is his now?

Turkey thought she can outlast the EU's leverage as long as possible in the foolish hope that they believe that time will come where the EU will need Turkey 1000 times more than Turkey will need the EU, when Turkey will be able to dictate to the EU her terms for the EU to have the privilege of Turkey joining the EU club with no questions asked regarding Cyprus or the Kurds or the Armenians, or Human Rights violations, or no freedom of the Press and so on. Nobody said Turkey lacks imagination or dreams of grandeur delusions.

As for Turkey talking trash about choosing the TCs (parasites to Erdogan) over the EU, is ONLY because she can't have the EU. How else can she save face. In the last few months, Turkey has lost so much face with all her big talks and no action, no one can possible take Turkey seriously in what she says. Besides, Turkey wants the island of Cyprus and not the TCs. What is Turkey going to do with 70,000 TCs when she already have over 70 million Turks, specially TCs are not even religious. Just remember something, that there will always be Turkey after Erdogan and all the Neo Islamist in the Turkish Government are gone. "Time Does not Stand Still!"

Cyprus is a sovereign nation the solution we want is freedom for our Country and all foreign forces including the Turkish army to go. That is the solution we are seeking.

The world is moving toward democracy and we are not about to go back ward to satisfy a minority with complex. One person one vote equals democracy as does freedom of movement.

Your youngsters know this and that is why they have taken to the streets.

Turkey has not done with EU yet why should she withdraw her application, she will only do that when good and ready.

As for Turkish Cypriots becoming Turks well were Turks in the beginning so what changed, stop showing your ignorance this veiled threat is useless.

Unfortunately for you we have every right that's why there are referendums to protect our rights.

You have been predicting the demise of Turkey all your life and the fall of the TRNC since I have known you but nothing has happened that makes you an idiot in my book. Get it into your thick head TCs would rather assimilate with Turks than become a minority among GCs in a state run by GCs.
