I'm considering changing from Primetel to Cablenet. If you are a cablenet subscriber I would like to know your experiences with them. Although I'm happy with Primetel's customer support and broadband connection, they are a bit pricey and there is no TV coverage where I live (quite surprisingly as I only live 5 minutes from the city centre in Nicosia).

My question is simple... I've been with Primetel since 2007 and have not had any major problems. Telephone reliability and a good stable Internet connection are very important to me. If I join cablenet today will I be able to say the same about cablenet in 2016? I've read some of the posts on cyprusbroadband.net and I'm getting conflicting reports.

First of all have you checked if there is cablenet coverage where you live? Cablenet covers fewer places than Primetel. If you can get cablenet I would say go for it as it is much cheaper. But nobody can guarantee quality until 2016. They might be great today and then become worst in a year from now.

I remember seeing them a few years ago installing a thick black wire on the electricity poles on my road in Agios Dhometios so I assume were covered. How long have you been with cablenet? Have you experienced any down time or slow connections? Thanks.

Finally changed to Cablenet this November, 10 months after my orignal post . So far, so good with no problems yet.

I had been with Prime-tel for 5 years. Never had any serious issues with them but they didn't cover my area with a TV service so I changed mainly for that reason. Also their prices are a bit higher. I also felt a bit cheated because they have all these great promotions for attracting new customers and nothing for existing customers (except the yearly calender ).

Overall:
- I like the fact that cablenet is contract-free
- The TV service also broadcasts analogue signals so you don't need to worry about having extra MPEG4 decoders/remotes for older TV's and can also watch different channels on seperate TV's without extra decoders.
- You can access and re-configure their wireless modem/router which also has a reasonably good wireless signal (comparable to my Linksys WRT160NL).

Cablenet right now....sucks.

They have bandwidth problems...It's been 1 month now nearly every day from 18:00 till midnight I get ping on google over 150-280.. Yesterday it was so unstable I was hitting 600....There are a lot of people having the same problem..After talking from some people on customer support the identified this problem from November and still ongoing...
No answer on when it will be fixed
