Don't get me wrong, I do not dislike the Greeks, they are not us and we are not them,
The Cyprus problem is not about Greek vs. Turk, but Cypriot vs. Turk.
I don't get you wrong and I am not complaining about your believes and feelings nor do I think you dislike Greeks though it would be your right to feel like that too. I even agree with you that we are different. As different as the Cretans compared to the Greeks of all other parts of Greece and the Peloponnesians compared to the Macedonians etc.
My point previously was that this thread is about a different subject all together, i.e., about the expression the solidarity movement of foreign citizens to the Greek People which started in France.
Now, concerning my "brainwashing", i.e., the development of my "Greek Consciousness". Believe me, that was completed and cemented by the time I was six, i.e., before I even joined elementary school. It was built by both my grandfathers and both my parents. My teachers in school simply did not have anything to add to it. It did not take any flags to "perpetuate it"
although, I must admit, the Brits helped a lot in strengthening my respect to them. You see, they were even forcing 10 year old elementary school boys to pull them down from school roofs were they had been hoisted the night before, with lines tied around their necks. (Ag, Antonios of Nicosia elementary, 1956). On the other hand. Flags do not build "national feeling" and "national pride". They only express it and symbolize it if it is there.
P.S. I found very interesting your point that Cypriot civilization goes back 12.000 years and that we are directly connected to that (if I got the meaning of your post right). Any links?
