Don't get me wrong, I do not dislike the Greeks, they are not us and we are not them,

The Cyprus problem is not about Greek vs. Turk, but Cypriot vs. Turk.

I don't get you wrong and I am not complaining about your believes and feelings nor do I think you dislike Greeks though it would be your right to feel like that too. I even agree with you that we are different. As different as the Cretans compared to the Greeks of all other parts of Greece and the Peloponnesians compared to the Macedonians etc.

My point previously was that this thread is about a different subject all together, i.e., about the expression the solidarity movement of foreign citizens to the Greek People which started in France.

Now, concerning my "brainwashing", i.e., the development of my "Greek Consciousness". Believe me, that was completed and cemented by the time I was six, i.e., before I even joined elementary school. It was built by both my grandfathers and both my parents. My teachers in school simply did not have anything to add to it. It did not take any flags to "perpetuate it"
although, I must admit, the Brits helped a lot in strengthening my respect to them. You see, they were even forcing 10 year old elementary school boys to pull them down from school roofs were they had been hoisted the night before, with lines tied around their necks. (Ag, Antonios of Nicosia elementary, 1956). On the other hand. Flags do not build "national feeling" and "national pride". They only express it and symbolize it if it is there.

P.S. I found very interesting your point that Cypriot civilization goes back 12.000 years and that we are directly connected to that (if I got the meaning of your post right). Any links?

Thanks pappy. And yes, identity problems which the Brits engineered for decades with the help of some "Cypriots". Hoping that by eliminating the Hellenic identity, culture and traditions of the Greek Cypriots will make their task of turning Cyprus into a "francolevantine" protectorate much easier.

Oh dear, this Greco Ottomania runs far deeper than I thought.

Why is it that you people are so stupid? So the Brits introduced "Cypriotism" to make their conquest easier, or was it that they were just willing to use 'ethnic' lines to divide the island? If the Brits introduced Cypriotism, then their job would be far harder. This Hellenic malarkey suited them and aided their ambitions.

And Greco Ottomans are far too stupid to be going up against superior British Intelligence, ingenuity, with their regimented and structured ways.

If Cypriots are not connected to the ancient civilization/s that existed right here in their own country (such as the Choirokitians, Sotirans, etc) then who the hell can they possibly be connected to? :?

The Slavic tribes that occupied the territory of modern Greece?

Grow up and start using your brain for once!

The Brits "engineered" that Cypriots don't come from Cyprus but Papua New Guinea?

Wow! What master craftsmen they are!

So what else did the Brits engineer?

That Venezuelans come from Iceland, the New Zealanders come from Canada, and the Indonesiands come from the USA?

Using your logic since the Nicosians come from Nicosia, they can not be Cypriots. Obviously your logic is flawed.

I am Limassolian, Cypriot, Greek and European. Limassol is my city, Cyprus is my island and Greek is my nation.

One way to divide Cyprus would be to convince the Nicosians that they are just Nicosians and not Cypriots and do the same for the residents of each district. Of course not many people would be convinced with arguments such as "How can you be Cypriot if you come from Nicosia?". Nicosia is a Cypriot city, and therefore being a Nicosian means you are most probably a Cypriot. Similarly Cyprus is a Greek island, and being Cypriot means that you are most probably Greek.

Of course there are always exceptions. Not all residents of Nicosia are Cypriot, and not all residents of Cyprus are Greek. But the majority of Nicosians are Cypriots and the majority of Cypriots are Greek, and this is a fact either you like it or not.

So the only way to divide either our Greek nation or our island was by force. So the British and the Turks forced Cyprus to be a separate country in 1960, and once Cyprus was isolated from the rest of our nation they are also forced the division of our island in 1974.

There were no civilizations in Cyprus 12.000 years ago. A small village of a couple of 100 people is not called a "civilization", not to mention that those people went extinct 1000s of years ago and therefore we could not possibly be related to them. We have no linguistic, cultural or any other connection with those people. Our only connection is that we came to the same island. (because they also came to Cyprus from somewhere else, they didn't grow from the land of Cyprus).

Pre-historic settlements existed everywhere, and in many places are far older than in Cyprus. If people identified themselves based on the nearest pre-historic settlement then there wouldn't be any English, French, Russian, Greek, Turkish etc etc nations.

Where is your credible link to back your nonsense?
