I can’t believe this guy…. so the Greeks who allegedly went to Cyprus managed to assimilate and convert the Cypriot natives but everyone else who came thereafter was swiftly assimilated by the Greeks who by the way RETAINED their Greekness!!!

What a fucking twat! It’s like talking with a spoilt 5 year old!

You were making assertions about who was first and the evidence suggests that homo sapiens arrived in Cyprus first.

The evidence sugests the opposide. Everything else is your own assumptions.

In about 10,000 years, I bet no Australian will know who their ancestors are. Everyone's ancestry will no doubt be a blend of many. Therefore, there will exist an Australian ethnicity encompassing all, and I put it to you that they have managed this already. Australia will not be English and is not English today and who in 10,000 years who will not be able to claim Aboriginal Ancestry? Can anyone guarantee that they don't have Aboriginal Australian ancestors?

So white people in Australia who will speak English and have a European culture will claim that their ancestry goes back to pre-historic Australia? The Aboriginals today are 2.5% of the population of Australia. Are you saying that when you mix this 2.5% with the 97.5% the result is Aboriginal Australians? That is like saying the if one of your great great great great great grandparents was Chinese, and everybody else was English, that you are Chinese and not English.

The fact is that the aboriginal population is tiny, and therefore it is them who will be eventually assimilated into the majority, not the other way around.

Beyond that, what label you give to the population is irrelevant. If you call "Australians" the White English speaking with European culture residents of Australia, this will not change the fact that most of their ancestors came from Europe and not pre-historic Australia.

Piratis, once again I was talking hypothetically about an Australia in 10000 years time. I seriously doubt anyone will be able to pinpoint their ancestry, and yes, some may wish to claim Aboriginal Ancestry going back 50,000 years. Australia may not even resemble anything European that far in the future.

The fact of the matter is this, Australia is multicultural and a melting pot. There can only be an Australian ethnicity, that encompasses all into one group, and that includes Asians, Arabs and Native Australians. We are not English. I, as an Australian am not English. And Cypriots such as I are not Greek.

Get Real, go out in the street and listen to the language the majority of people are speaking. It will be Greek.

It will not be some language of pre-historic Chirokitians, and it will not be the language of any of the people that came after the Greeks. So yes, for the most part the Greeks assimilated both those who came before them and those who came after.

But of course there were those that were assimilated by others. Some of them were assimilated by the Turks and is what we know today as TCs. Also you and a few others were assimilated by the British, which is why you have an inferiority complex which you are now trying to compensate for by claiming some direct link between you and the pre-historic people of Cyprus.

A dialect of Greek is Greek ;) Many languages have various dialects. It is nothing unusual.
