So neither the Chirokitians nor the Sotirans then! Didn't you say something different earlier? So who are the indigenous Cypriots then?To answer your question, Kangaroo Island is part of Australia, and so the inhabitants are Australian. Just like the inhabitants of Cyprus are Cypriot. What else can they be?
So you do not support the independance of the Kangaroo Island? if you are from the Kangaroo Island you should be Kangarooan, not Australian. If people in Cyprus can't be Greek, then people on Kangaroo Island can't be Australian. We were made to accept the terms given to us Piratis because we were silly enough to fight a superpower. I will not knock the sacrifice made of many brave EOKA, but the alternative was to request independence and offer the UK 2 bases on lease that are not sovereign. Obviously, in 1955 they would refuse, but by 1965 they would not refuse and they would have given us that independence.
What would change between 1955 and 1965?So far, only you have spoken up about the "Hellenic" thesis. I think it is you that is in the minority I'm afraid, because every time I visit Cyprus I don't see these Hellenic hang ups you portray.
Next time you come ask people what their ethnicity is.
The indigenous are those that existed on the island for thousands of years before anything Greek even existed and you lot were still swinging in the trees.
Sure, if the Kangaroans want independence, then that's great.
What changed in 1965 was Britain's attitude towards Cyprus. They were even contemplating abandoning the SBAs back then, and also by 1964, the Americans had a policy of supporting the self determination of small colonies like Cyprus. Everything changes Piratis, and nothing stays the same. The worth of Cyprus' strategic importance also changes. Also, a British FM was quoted to have said that if the Cypriots waited until 1964/1965, they would be granted independence. I think I read this in O'Malley's book.
Also, I don't here many people coming out saying they are Greek these days. Sorry! But it is to be expected. And I guarantee you, that in a generation or 2, no one will be saying it, and by that time Greece might not even exist. They are so far ahead of the political curve!
So now you are taking that 10.000BC you said earlier back? You are making this as you go don't you? You really have no clue what you are talking about
So the Kangaroans should be independent only if that is what they want? I remind you that Cyprus was forced to be "independent" even thought this was not what Cypriots wanted.
I didn't see any attitude change of the British in 1965 or 75 or 85 or 95 or 2005. They never wanted to give up their bases in Cyprus.
And people will not come out and say they are Greek unless you ask them. Or maybe in your country people walk around declaring their ethnicity? Many generations have passed and Cyprus is still Greek. So don't hope anything will change.
piratis there is no people on kangaroo island only resorts...and a few dingoes...now you want the dingoes to vote for independance?...you know dingoes don't bark, they howl....i used to have one...
