British MPs sign Cyprus resolution

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

British MPs sign Cyprus resolution

BRITISH parliamentarians have drafted a resolution on the Cyprus problem, calling on the UK government to exert pressure on Ankara to change its stance and show good will at the negotiating table.

You think something behind that? Such as....BP for instance? Where were they till now?

Erm ...To put this in to perspective, what is open for signature is what is called an Early Day Motion. There have been several on the matter of CY over the years. It is just a chance for bank-bench MPs in the GB House of Commons to demonstrate continuing support to their constituents for the CY struggle, not much more.

For those with an interest it is Early Day Motion 2535 TURKEY and CYPRUS which can be found at... http://www.parliament.uk/edm/2010-12/2535

am always weary of the British .......... hypocritical colonialists .......... they will not follow through with this because it would mean they will have to take their occupation troops out of Cyprus. Not likely to happen. However if it will mean they get cheaper gas from Cyprus they may re-think their position. In the meantime we have another three to four years to go. In the meantime the settlers will ensure they have more numbers than the TC's and they can have an impact on the demographics, politics and decision making in the region.

Well this is the text of the EDM...

That this House expresses its continued concern about the illegal occupation and governance of the northern part of the island of Cyprus by Turkey following its invasion in 1974; notes that despite international efforts Turkey refuses to withdraw its military forces, or allow Greek Cypriot citizens to return to their homes and properties, whilst encouraging wrongful settlement in the area by immigrants whom they allow to exploit land and properties expropriated from their rightful owners without any regard for national Cypriot cultural heritage; and calls on the Government as a guarantor power, to insist of Turkey that it adopts a more constructive attitudein negotiations aimed at establishing a viable, fair and lasting solution tothe problem, and that asa gesture of goodwill it should agree to allow refugees from the ghost town ofFamagusta and surrounding areas to returnto their homes as outlined in United Nations Security Council Resolutions 550 (1984)and 789 (1992).

Now who other than VP, Halil, and Lordo would argue with the above???

Why don't they also apply economic sanctions on Turkey if it does not begin a dialogue for the withdrawl of its troops. Words are easy.

The UK is our 2nd greatest enemy, because they have been destroying our country and its people since the end of WWII.
We don't need any sympathy or support from them. B*gger off!
