GREEK AND TURKISH CYPRIOT COEXISTENCE AND TMT

"There are many examples of joint upsprings against the Sultan and the Pashas. We shall only mention the uprising of Halil Agha in 1765, of the Messaoria peasants in 1804-1805 and of Giaour Imam in 1833. In these upsprings Greeks and Turks fought jointly for better living conditions, but they were put down through the co-operation of aghas- landlords and the higher Greek Clergy. This brief survey of the circumstances that enabled the Ottoman Empire to impose itself upon Cyprus accounts for the main causes that led to the cooperation of the Greek and Turkish masses."
Ibrahim Aziz, The Historical Course of the
Turkish Cypriot Community, 1981.

Ibrahim Aziz writes from the progressive TC prospective. What do you have to do with this Kimon? TMT would not have succeeded had they not found willing partners in their GC counterparts. When our paramilitarist (Yiorgadjis, Sampson, Lyssarides) funded and armed by Makarios, attacked the ordinary TCs instead of protecting them from TMT, we started losing the game. TMT had an agenda but so did we and what TMT did suited us fine. The TMT-expressed nationalism ended up on top but when you play a game like this you need to be prepared for the worse. To be absolutely sure, let me spell it out: TMT and GC nationalism (hand-in-hand) destroyed Cyprus. If you value Ibrahim Aziz at all, then you must also agree with the conclusions he arrives at in his book too.

"Cyprus is another Alexandretta in the history of Turkey. The power of Turkey will ensure an honorable life for the Turkish Cypriots in the same way as it did in Alexandretta by annexing it and bringing it under Turkish domination. The road in this direction has been opened by the Turkish fighters at Kokkina......."
Halkin Sesi, mouthpiece of Turkish Cypriot leadership, 9 August 1965

"The Turkish fighters have pledged to fight on until the realization of partition. The attitude of the Turkish minority has been admittedly one of provoking division and instigating armed conflict with the aim of partition."

Halkin Sesi, mouthpiece of Turkish Cypriot leadership, 29 February 1964

You assumption is totally wrong. One may find agreeable many parts of a book or an essay and disagree with the conclusions. I am sure it has happened to you as well. In any event, I have not read the book but only the quotes published on the Internet. And I have also read what other Turkish journalists and politicians have said and written on the same issue. And they all agree to one thing: Cyprus was divided because Turkey planed to divide it and succeeded with the help of the TMT who undertook the dirty job to force the TCs into the enclaves. Sampson and Lyssarides and Georkadjis did not attack innocent unarmed TC civilians. They attacked or defended against the TMT murderers who were attacking and killing unarmed GCs even since the mid ‘50s and burning schools and churches etc. Everything else is Turkish propaganda which you simply reproduce. If the forces of Sampson and Lyssarides or Georkadjis (meaning the National Guard I believe) had tried to stop the movement of TC civilians to the enclaves by the TMT thugs then we would surely have a real disaster in our hands because you can be sure that the TMT thugs would not hesitate to shoot TC civilians and blame the killings on the Greeks.

http://www.lobbyforcyprus.org/quotations.aspx?type=tcyp

Our mistakes had been others. Let me list a few:
1. Not taking St. Hilarion before the TMT did. Afterwards it would take a lot of bloodshed which Makarios could not permit.
2. Not taking Kokkina in 1964 (orders from Greece) that nest from which the snakes from Turkey were infiltrating Cyprus and bringing in weapons even since the 50s.
3. Not putting Denktash in prison (orders of Makarios) when he was caught entering CY illegally after a trip to Turkey (do not remember the year, probably early or mid
60s)
4. Removing the Greek Troops (6-8000 some say more than 10000) from Cyprus in 1967.
5. Not manning the defenses of the north coast of Cyprus soon as the Turks started embarking their troops to the boats for the invasion.
Had that been done, the Turks would had been humiliated and thrown back to the see by the National Guard alone. In any event, they would had been held back long enough for the big guys to be afraid that the hole thing was to escalate out of control and step in to stop it.
Those were our biggest mistakes and our contribution to the division of Cyprus from a military point of view. But the real crime was committed in the political field in the early 50s, when the GC and the Greek leaders, turned down Marshall Hardings proposal for a solution.

You CANNOT post Greek tossings from propaganda junk sites and expect to have any credibility, any more than someone like Halil trying to prove a point by quoting from the Grey Wolves Chronicles!

You incompetent fool!

It is not easy to convince anyone that has already made his mind up and it will not be my objective to do so. However, perhaps you can tell us how many TMT members Yiorgadjis, Sampson and Lyssarides killed altogether. How many leaders of this organisation were killed by those that undertook to save us? I put it to you that these killing fiends you admire so much, declared war on the ordinary TC and did not even respect those that were receiving treatment in state hospitals. Their bones are still being retrieved from the wells they were thrown in. You think that this is Turkish propaganda but so does the ostrich, when hiding its head in the sand it thinks that no one can see it. You call upon Turkey to accept responsibility for the Armenian genocide in 1915 but our atrocities are just ... Turkish propaganda. Pathetic, to say the least. I enjoyed reading your list of "mistakes" we made. You suffer from the same hallucinations as Grivas, who thought that we were a military superpower. Lastly, may I ask you to elaborate on
But the real crime was committed in the political field in the early 50s, when the GC and the Greek leaders, turned down Marshall Hardings proposal for a solution.

What were these proposals and who objected to them?

I am not surprised you can not tell the difference. I am posting quotes from Turkish reports, Halil posts Grey Wolves Chronicles. So indicative of the level (and the state) of your brain.

On the other hand, instead of bothering with the "nationality" of the sites, try to focus on the content of the quotes. If you can. Which I doubt so I excuse you.

Now go back to that book you are writing which f*s the Greek Cypriot Dialect. And take your bottle with you.
