hi guys ! Im Jerome 18 yrs. old from limassol . i originally came from the Philippines . Im a pure Filipino . My mom married a cypriot and she already passed an application for her citizenship . and heres the thing my stepfather(cypriot) is plannig to adopt me soon . thus changing my citizenship to cypriot ( somehow ) i heard that all cypriot men undergone a military service , whether they like it or not . will i do the same since i will be a cypriot so soon ? please need your help . thanks !

Military service is a sad fact here considering it basically pulls guys out of the education system to veg for a while. pretty much putting guys behind girls in uni.

Lebanon canceled military service a couple years back - cyprus in turn expanded the waste of time to include all residents. Hold off on your citizenship application until you turn 20 or something...

Hey "jerome27", as a 'Filipino' you should be very well aware of what deprivations are foisted upon the masses by those who rule (both inside and out of your nation) which make your lives so miserable.

Get stuck in lad, 'Fix Bayonets', a spell in the military will do you a power of good and you SHOULD stand shoulder to shoulder with those who will become your countrymen (when you obtain citizenship).

A few words of warning however (since you come across as slightly timorous), watch out for the 'Turks', they have a nasty habit of stabbing you in the arse as soon as you turn your back on 'em !.

By the way, welcome to the forum, 'Happy New Year' and I hope you last a lot longer than YOU probably anticipate you might if you join up.

I am not sure who will be getting "stuck in" or where but you may well find the miltary life will be be very hard on you if you come out.
