I now recall we discussed this in fact I tried to support it but the objection came more from the GCs than the TCs.
without financial backing nothing is possible, our financial dependence on Turkey w'll always give them the advantage over the GCs, painful but true Add to this your financial crisis and you stand no chance of getting TCs to "break away" as you call it.

The embargo, the "stranglehold" as you call it VP is on the Illegal Occupation Regime, get rid of it.

If the "regime" is Turkey they dont seem to be feeling it as that is exactly what they want a financially dependent TC population.

Many people have been coming to live, work and settle in the Republic of Cyprus prior to the discoveries of gas. Mainly because it's a sunny, pleasant, democratic, civilised EU member. Whereas only looters, criminals and carpetbaggers have made their homes in the "trnc".
Now do you mind telling us how the TCs will benefit from their share of the gas reserves as long as the island is divided?
We will finance them a provisional government so that they get rid of the Turks.
Since when has any government told the Turkish Military what to do?
Since Ergenegon and the imprisonment of lots of generals.
