Both are professonal teams.

Professional? From paphos?

Yes, professionals as aussie's football and basketball clubs :D

Don't think so my friend.

Firstly, Australian A League soccer is pretty huge with massive sponsorship and TV Deals and that is the same with Basketball. Also, most Australian Players actually play in the NBA. And with probably the world's biggest media company behind it on all fronts pouring money into all the TV Deals (Rupert Murdoch), I think you're friggin dreaming. The guy is paying $80 million per year for the TV Rights which get's split by the clubs.

I don't think there is much comparison at all seeing as though the A League and MLS are some of the biggest leagues in the world now and seeing as though they are signing players on multi million dollar deals. FOX Sports and FOX TV mate. One club alone has 28,000 members and season ticket holders and another team is building their own 35,000 seat stadium. One team is actually owned by Manchester City and another by Borrussia Dortmund with regular player swaps from the Premier League and Bundesliga such as Finkler and other current German National Team Players.

Average Cypriot and greek crowds - wait for it - 3,500 fans. Mate, more people turn up to an Aussie School fete than that.

But what ever makes you feel better.

First of all, i respect your country but......
Teams like Apoel, Omonoia, Apollon, AEK, etc plays every year in Europe against Barcelona, Liverpool, Dortmund.
Do you really think Melbourne City, Adelaide United are better than the top cypriot teams?.

With all due respect Zenon.

Just because you play in Europe does not make Cypriot Teams better than A League.

First of all A League teams have virtually unlimited budgets, just like Barcelona.

They are linked to European Teams and they play European Teams every year as well.

Just to give you an appreciation of the money being spent. One A League Team is building its own 35,000 seat stadium for $350 million.

Melbourne City is actually owned by Sheikh Khaldoon Al Mubarak of Abu Dhabi, who owns Manchester City and New York Cosmos and who is one of the richest people on the planet.

Another is owned by a Russian Obligarch Billionaire and another is owned by Borussia Dortmund.

Big money mate, and a very competitive league. All teams are good, with the bottom team more than capable of knocking off the top team. Plus games being played in front of 50,000 fans sometimes and telecast by FOX for huge TV Rights straight into the pockets of the clubs.

Australia is a very big and crazy sports market (America and Australia are in a league of their own when it comes to sport), and Soccer is growing very fast. There is only one team in Cyprus which could possibly give A League teams a run for their money and that is Apoel. The rest of the teams would get spanked on their arse and crushed.

All your teams are in debt Zenon. Our teams have Oil overlords, and sugar daddy's with very deep pockets as well as Rupert Murdoch and Woolworth's Frank Lowey behind them. Only the Richest of Super Rich bastards on the planet with their Russian Obligarch and Arabian Oil Sheikh cohorts.

You can't compete with that not in a million years.

So much money behind these clubs Zenon, that top European players are going to A League and play. Even current Spanish, Dutch and German national Team players worth some $30 + million on the transfer market. About 6 times more than the entire Apoel budget.

Teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, City, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Ajax are yearly visitors to Australia and are developing links with local teams. It's pretty big business.

Melbourne City is one of the Richest Clubs on the planet. You are talking about on par with Barcelona even.

Owned by this guy.

Yes, both those clubs will spank all Cypriot Teams. The only Cyprus team that could possibly give them a run is Apoel, but both Adelaide United and Melbourne City have very deep pockets.

Stroumbi has a good volleyball team (Dionysos). I don't think they are active in football though. :|
