Giorgos Efrem enjoyed a dream debut as Arsenal Reserves fought back to earn a point against Crystal Palace on Monday night.

The teenager got his chance in a young Gunners line-up and showed his potential by scoring one goal and winning a penalty in the space of two second-half minutes.

Until then, Palace looked like leaving Underhill with all three points. Lewis Grabban tucked a shot past Vito Mannone shortly after the break and headed home a second after 50 minutes.

Neil Banfield's side had to respond and they did with 18 minutes remaining. Sebastian Larsson found Nicklas Bendtner on the left, the Dane surged into the penalty area and crossed low for Efrem to score at the far post.

Two minutes later, Arsenal were level. Efrem was brought down inside the box by Tyrone Berry and Bendtner stepped up to convert his fifth goal for the Reserves this season.

i was reading about him in the program the other night...strange 2nd name. he moved over here and went to school. his dad was also a footballer

He is Greek Cypriot and asked my dad about the name Efrem...which is aparently a biblical name, just like some Greeks have the name Gavriel or Simon.

He was brought to this country by a friend of mine who used to play in the Cypriot League over here and then in Cyprus. This guy has a lot of links in football and from what I hear, the Arsenal reserve team manager rates Efrem highly.

I have to admit to being a bit of a Football Manager/Championship Manager boffin. I have this player in my team. He is a 21 year old attacking midfielder/Forward. If this player turns out to be as good in real life to the one in the game then Cyprus football is in for a right treat!!!!

His stats are excellent. These games tend to know the gems of the future. (i.e Lennon, Adu, Robinho, Ronaldo, Rooney, Torres etc)

Apologies mate! Early morning not reading your post. I missed a very important word on my post about Giorgos. In my Champ Man. game he is now a 21 year old.!!!
