Another important issue that Bananiot seems ignorant of is the fact that the label “Turkish Cypriots” is now defunct for they have officially become “Turks of Cyprus” in unison with illegal Turkish settlers, so not even Turkey recognizes such an entity any more!

The CyProb has clearly evolved into a matter of Cyprus Vs Turkey and not a GCs vs TCs as Bananiot still seems to think. These are important issues that cannot be ignored if one is to tackle the CyProb seriously.

The Cyprob has in my view seldom been about "GC" v "TC" but in large measure has always been about Greece v Turkey arising out of Turkish concerns about Greek dominance of Turkey's southern coast if Enosis had come about. The Cypriots today, both Greek speaking and Turkish speaking must live with the consequences.

The events of December 1963 and July 74 both can be linked to attempts to acheive Enosis.

In my view the call for Enosis has been a curse.

I wonder how Downer would feel if indonesia came in displaced 95% of the population from the northern part of the Country, because a small minority said I want to separate as an independent State because we hate the white anglo saxon Australians.
