I have warned the Kibrislis in this forum that with these oil findings, they will soon have no other option, other than a Unitary state in which at the very best get something more than a minority status.

This woman Erato Kozakou Martkoullis is an extremely clever lady-perhaps the BEST foreign Minister we ever had.It seems she already started the game, and I won't be surprised if after January 2012 the UN will be forced to admit that BBF is no longer a valid solution for CP.

Fantastic, thank god for this very clever female, but has she taken into consideration the fact that 95% of TCs will refuse it. So what have we got to look forward to is another 47 years of negotiations with this concept, perhaps her granchild will come up with BBF in a 47 years time? I look forward to that.

Thanks but no thanks.

Hehehe. You are absolutely right. She has taken into account that you will refuse it. In fact the Kypreoi leaders to come after Christofias are betting on it. The valid question is WHY?? Think, think, think

What is there to think about Pyro. There is no trust. The time is running out. It is Christofias who has to think. He will remembered as the second man who had chance to unite the country and chose not to. The first being Makarios in 1973 before the war. If there is any thinking to be done, may I suggest you take your own advise and ask yourself, do the TCs have any cause to not trust?

Whilst we only have a ceasefire and 100,000 GC reservists fully armed with their full compliment of weaponry in their homes, you live in dreamland if you think TCs will accept anything other than two zones with guarantee from Turkey.

Perhaps in 20 years time we can move to a single zone, but now impossible' as french friend used to say.

Actually my friend I expected you to think of the possibility that sharing 20% of the oil with the Kibrislis -who together with the settlers might be 30+%- and add to that the "bela" of an unstable BBF might not be worthy to those who really move the puppets.
inother words the Kypreoi will not want a solution other than one on their OWN terms.
Sad as may sound neither the Kibrislis nor the Kypreoi ever had the decency to give a helping hand to the "other side" when it was down to its knees. The same thing will be repeated.

PS. I totally disagree with you about Christofias. The man had Eroglu to negotiate with. In other words someone worse than Denktash. You are not serious telling me he had a chance with him are you?

Your post about the High-level Agreements. It reminded me how far we are from the principles of a BBF and how Turkey has been using a BBF as cover to push for a confederal solution. Even this week we've had Eroglu on the phone to the Enlargement Commissioner Fule trying to convince him that a solution needs to be EU primary law so as to avoid challenge in the EU courts. In other words, they want a solution to legally discriminate against the majority population. The Turks simply aren't interested in a solution other than on partitionist terms. This is what a "federation" means to them. It's just nonsense that the UN are allowing this charade to continue.

He also had his best opportunity with Talat and he messed that up as well.

Add to this the possibility that if Turkey continues the occupation, the Kibrislis will have no benefit whatsoever from their share of the gas. Just how long before they come to their senses and turn against Turkey when the lack of a solution will be to their obvious detriment?

Oooooh, thank you, thank you Hermey, though that that post had been ignored and condemned to the dark unread dungeons of CF, and thanks for the reaction, for the chance to say what really wanted to say about one point in it...

Now if we are to believe Halil when he posted a sourceless article a couple of days ago to the effect that the current talks would be frozen for some 9 months come the Spring and that current convergences would be put on hold for the resumption of the talks from current positions, in 2013, then perhaps Pres X should throw the whole of that HLA of 1979 in to the freezer with the current convergences, along with the UN Ressies and EU Acquis.

In particular that very simple bit in the 1979 HLA about Occupied Famagusta, which is quite clear, no talks without the TA leaving Varosha, which can now read no resumption of talks without the TA buggering off from Varosha.

Naturally it ain't in Pres X's character to be so bold, suspect he doesn't have the courage anyway so perhaps the Varoshiotes and others might embolden him.

Pyro, I was referring to the negotiations with Talat not Eroglu, but it seems he now has to negotiate with Eroglu or Nothing.
As to the 20% I think you are shortchanging the TCs. The constitution which fanatics here seem to love says 30%, but I will tell you this for nothing, offer 50% to the TCs with single zone and they will say no. You have no idea what the TC have gone through. There is only one way forward and that is BBF with at least one generation and then you can begin to think about a single zone. No, I repeat what my french friend says. Impossible'
