I will never forget the final days or weeks of December,1963....As a 12 year old I was hiding a handgranade in my pocket, waiting to blow up my mother and sisters, and myself of course, should the GC irregulars came to the door instead of my father who was fighting them off at the walls of the old city... :(
Not a particularly pleasant memory!!!

Which is this city that you were forcing GCs off?

You are slow Sotos. He is talking of the Turkish sector of Nicosia which was under attack by the various paramilitaries of Nicos Sampson, lysarides and other armed Greeks groups.

You are slow because what he said is "fighting them off at the walls of the old city". If he wanted to say something different then he should have said that ;) I read somewhere... I think it was in this forum, that TCs evicted the Armenians from their own sector in Nicosia. Is that true?

I dont know if they had their own sector, but in Nicosia there were areas where they were in large numbers. In Trahona where I stayed for two years in term time there were a large number. Many more also lived in the Arab Hmet district and towards the Paphos Gte area around the Armenian church. Some Armenians were murdered in the Kiosklou Çiftlik area that I kow of. This surely was enough to scare the rest of our Armenian neighbour to leave the 'Turkish' sector till a ceasefire. I doubt any returned. Years later I met some of the Garabet family in London. Doubtless the TCs also left the safety of their homes for safety in numbers to other areas (normal, woldnt you say). To be safe from marauding Greek Cypriots.

All these years I should also be remembering my grandfather too, who passed away exactly a year fater the troubles began on the 21st December 1964 in London. Like many Cypriots, Greek and Turkish who pass away in a foreign land, a refugee never to see their homes again. I will say a prayer for all of them. Perhaps some of you will join me.

Human feelings do touch me a lot dear Deniz, I 'm all with you in this.
I have my own views about our existence in this world, so I won't pray, yet I will feel the warmth in your heart when you do.

Speaking of murdered people have you ever met one of those who killed other people in Cyprus? I did meet some over time. They all have something in common:Their consciousness turned them into wreckage.

Who knows Pyro? These people are all protected. They do not wear a 'badge of 'dis-honour' saying,' look at me, İ am a murderer.' what conscience Pyro? They have none.

Makes no difference to Sotos. He should stick to İT, which he is brilliant at!
