How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

All these years I should also be remembering my grandfather too, who passed away exactly a year fater the troubles began on the 21st December 1964 in London. Like many Cypriots, Greek and Turkish who pass away in a foreign land, a refugee never to see their homes again. I will say a prayer for all of them. Perhaps some of you will join me.

I'm here with you Deniz beyciğim....

Yes being selective with the truth is a turkish trait, but who cares.

Deniz, not wanting to belittle your G.Dad, may he RIP (since my own G.Father also died in a foreign country), but at least he could go to his home north or south, unlike mine who was evicted and was never able to return.

But a prayer yes, of course.

B25, my grandfather could not go back to his own house either....he did not live long enough to see the day.

B25, you don't get it; as Greeks and Turks we cannot allow the fanatics who place this "Greekness" or "Turkishness" above Human respect to control the agenda (eg. hooligans, terrorists). Unless you support this Ignorance do not generalise Turks as "Turks", and realise that amongst Greeks walk "Greeks".

Thank you ,Deniz for the timely reminder...
I will never forget the final days or weeks of December,1963....As a 12 year old I was hiding a handgranade in my pocket, waiting to blow up my mother and sisters, and myself of course, should the GC irregulars came to the door instead of my father who was fighting them off at the walls of the old city... :(
Not a particularly pleasant memory!!!
