I know in the north, if you want more votes, you just ship more Illegal Alien settlers in from Turkey and pay them few Dollars to vote for you as it has been done for the last 30 years or so, but in a Democracy, as a citizen, where you live is where you vote.

Other TCs have voted and run for office in the south before, so obviously being a TC was not the problem. However, one needs to meet certain rules to be able to vote as citizen. So, was he refused voting just because he/they were TCs, or did not meet the voting regulations. So which was it and what were they?

... cos these were local elections, so if he lives say in L'sol, his name won't appear on an electoral register in Nicosia or Potamya... so really am just asking.

He tried to register in the correct place and was denied due to the constitution, this was deemed illegal before but the GCs continue to impose it.

Isn't unconstitutional for TCs to vote GC candidates?

Yep... wouldn't think it was 2011 would you?... think that is more or less the case, but the last time this chap went before the ECHR in a matter concerning General/Presidential elections, although the Court was sympathetic to the disorder/withdrawal from gov post-1963 and the difficulties this caused the Republic in voting matters, the ECHR took the over-riding view in a judgment that arrangements had to be made for people in these grey areas not to be denied a vote.

We also def need more information on this current matter, much more info.

He lives and pays taxes in Potamia. If this is the kind of human rights the EU can offer us, god help us all. Especially after they have been fined last time they did this to this village.

So this EU Human rights does not really amount to much does it. Not worth the paper it is written on. Perhaps it is good for one thing ...........
