Try and pay attention to what people are telling you, Viewpoint. They do so not to score cheap debating points but so that you can understand the reality of the situation. Let me try and be clear for you so as to help you.
I remind you of Protocol 10 of the Accession Treaty. As you know the EU Council of Ministers legal office ruled that any plans to lift the sanctions on the "trnc" violated existing EU regulations since the occupied areas cannot be viewed as separate legal territory from member state Cyprus. Therefore, all EU linkages to the Turkish occupied-side of the island would have to go through the official government of Cyprus. This includes trade, EU aid, university recognition etc. In a similar fashion, air links between north Cyprus and the rest of the world cannot be established as long as international conventions and the UN view the ROC as the legitimate government. Short of a UN Security Council resolution that would lift economic isolation of the north, direct air flights to airports in the "trnc" cannot be established.
Given that the UN, EU and international law are all locked down and firmly on the Republic's side; given that Cyprus exercises a veto in the EU and that it is looking forward as a full member as EU President; given that Turkey is universally perceived as responsible for the division and occupation of the island; given that Cyprus is looking forward to enhancing its status, sovereignty, economic influence and prestige by supplying Europe's energy needs for decades to come - given all this, surely you can see that the "trnc" is not only up shit-creek, it doesn't have a paddle.
Now you explain to me how the "trnc" can overcome all of this, without any legal or diplomatic support or foundation. Even your "leaders" know there is zero-chance of lifting the sanctions. If you want full EU rights and freedoms in the north the only way is to end the occupation and division of the island. There is no other path. Kind of a tough one for you, as a self-avowed partitionist.
