the roc during her presidency should encourage the EU adopting such a law, just to watch errorglue squirm...

Time ticking away for Turkey to get its act together:

Speaking after talks at the Greentree Estate with President Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Dervis Eroglu, Ban said that at the end of March he would be hearing about the process from his Special Adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer and, ''if his report is positive, consistent with the relevant Security Council resolutions and following consultations with the two sides, I intend to call a multilateral conference in late April or early May.''

If I'm not mistaken, the relevant Security Council resolutions may ONLY pertain to resolutions made regarding BBF. I believe the term "relevant" is what separates resolutions made on BBF from ALL the resolutions, which also include the ones against Turkey on Cyprus. I believe the distinction was clarified couple of years ago when Turkey complained that the "relevant resolutions" did not also mean those against Turkey.

I could be wrong, however!

Not there yet. in a little while we'll be there. I am taking a rough guess that a solution will come out just about the time that first cubic metre of gas is pumped into the pipeline.

I’m working on a new theory whereby the gas is piped to Africa via Egypt where the last remaining fossil fuel driven vehicles roam in 2035… 8)

I think if both greeks and turks are being honest here, nothing is ever going to happen. Do you really think the south will ever recognise the north and allow it to flourish with free trade, direct flights, commercial investment, tourism and so on. The answer is no. Will the turkish cypriot government ever relinquish its power to the greeks and lose all that money corrupt governments north and south are siphoning. The answer is no. Will Turkey give up a strategic location like Cyprus and will the USA allow it to happen. There is either a shit load of oil or gas somewhere here and I mean shit loads or something bigger than the common greek or turk can figure out cos I for sure cant see where we have made any head way in 38 years of talks.

For me it looks like Turkey is slowly moving in with investments priavatisation and so on. Cant see a solution never did. Oh and 1million population please get real.
