These are my views on the topics raised my MrH.

Cyprus joined the EU as a divided island when Greek Cypriots in the South rejected the UN reunification plan in twin referenda in 2004 even though the Turkish Cypriots in the North overwhelmingly supported it.

We did well to convince the EU to let us in, despite the situation on the ground in Cyprus. Probably we decieved them by promising them that we ould agree to a solution on the basis of the UN plan. We couldn't possibly become members without this commitment.

The promise made by EU foreign ministers before the referenda to end the isolation of the Turkish Cypriots and establish direct trade with North Cyprus remains unfulfilled.

This promise was made, however, the EU banked on the "yes" vote of the GC's. Little did they know that the GCs would upturn all the plans drawn by EU and UN.

Gaining independence from the UK in 1960, Cyprus became a bi-communal Republic “Partnership” where Greek and Turkish Cypriot constituent communities would share power guaranteed by the UK, Turkey and Greece.

Basically a correct statement. Power sharing on a 70% to 30% and constitution guaranteed by the nations mentioned.

However, reluctant to share power and pursuing a policy of Enosis (Union) with Greece, Greek Cypriots soon expelled Turkish Cypriots from power and terrorized and ghettoized them.

I have no doubt that Makarios wanted to use the constitution and the new state of Cyprus as a stepping stone to achieve his life-long ambition. Those TCs that had their own life-long ambitions exploited this and a bitter struggle started between two nationalism.

Decades long armed attacks on the defenseless Turkish Cypriots culminated in 1974 when an Athens-backed Greek Cypriot military coup on the island led to Turkey's military intervention. Britain at the time had a hung parliament and was unable to interfere, and the third guarantor, Greece, was actively encouraging the coup. Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots agreed that a Turkish guarantee force was a necessary to remain on the island until a UN Resolution of the Cyprus problem is found, particularly after finding so many deaths of its Turkish Cypriot “Citizens” from 1963- 1974.

Intervention by Turkey may have been legally justified, had it took place in order to remove the coupists and return legality to the island. The presence of Turkey could have been used even to solve the problem that started in 1963 and Turkey would have been heralded as a very helpful guarantor. However, sensing that there was more for the taking, Turkey divided Cyprus, brought on a population movement that was unheard of, and created the conditions to remain in Cyprus on the pretext that the army will leave once the two communities agree on solution. The influx of settlers also shows that Turkey had other ideas in mind.

Although the Republic of Cyprus as described in the 1959 agreements is no longer there, Greek Cypriots continue to enjoy this title and international recognition while the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a fully democratic government representing Turkish Cypriots, still suffers under an unfair political and economic blockade.

Our woes and yours would only end when we agree to a solution that will place Cyprus first. I understand the difficulties that are caused by mistrust, the blood of innocent people, the atrocities of the past, the fear of annihilation. This is the main reason why I see solution as the only hope of Cyprus. Even a compromise one which can be improved in time, perhaps long after we are dead and gone. The situation as it is today is like a time bomb. If we ignore this, Turkey and only Turkey will benefit. Cypriots will follow the path of the dinosaurs.

Makarios didn't exist when you first invaded our island in 1570 and started to kill and oppress us. That is when our Problem with the Turks started. Take the Turks out of Cyprus and the problem that started with them invading our island will be solved. The Turks are the Problem of Cyprus.

1) The TRNC exists, and will continue so long as the UN Based talks between the two leaders are kept alive - I'm sure you'll all agree?

2) No matter what the Greek Cypriots do or Say in terms of their so called representation of the entire island as an EU member state, they have no effective control over the northern territory.

3) If Turkey is internationally regarded as this "Invader of Cyprus", and is working outside the parameters of the original Cyprus Constitution and Zurich agreements, then why is it that the EU still keeps its "EU Candidate" status alive?

4) The Cyprus problem can only be solved under UN auspices, and NOT the EU!

5) No matter how much the Greek Cypriots believe in their side of the story, they will always be COMPELLED to Sit around a small UN Table to seek a RESUMPTION of the Cyprus question with "Turkish" Cyprus, Turkey, Greece and the United Kingdom.

6) Greece's economy is in a shambles - long term now for many years to come, Turkey's influence is rising, while the Greek Cypriot administered ROC is not in a good condition at all. Thus, the EU is now being re-shaped and could take measures, like they did with Kosovo, against the passionate wishes of the Greek Cypriots and Greece - I would be surprised.

7) the "Turkish Cypriot State" has FULL Observer status with all 56 nations of the OIC - Interesting!

MrH, this is the ONLY fact you need to know and accept that, no matter how much lipstick you put on a pig's lips, it is still a pig. If you have a half a brain, you will understand what I'm saying to you.
