Sources say Erdogan is suffering from Rectosigmoid cancer, but were not sure if it had reached the advanced Stage TIII (spread out of the colon to regional lymph nodes).

They also said they did not know what treatment he had received at the Istanbul hospital where he was first admitted and latterly at the Hacettepe Hospital in Ankara.

Sunday, Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag, talking to local journalists, told them not to pay attention to the "gossip" that the hospital had prepared a special room for the prime minister to conduct affairs of state, but did not deny it.

No denials were issued either of Turkish news reports about Erdogan undergoing "abdominal surgery " on Nov. 26. They also reported that, since he was released, an air force ambulance helicopter had been standing outside his home.

According to reports flying around Ankara Sunday, which were neither confirmed nor denied, the Turkish prime minister is back in hospital.

The above post by Hermes does support my suspicions regarding Erdogan's health and Cancer. If only the Turkish Press would have any Journalistic Integrity for them to report on this and not hide like cowards from the issue. So much for self praised Turkish Democracy.

If Erdogan "all" he had was the removal of part of his colon (about 12 inches, depending where and how large the tumour was) without the tumour breaking the outer wall of the colon, he stands a good chance to have a normal life and continue his political life without medication, if he has a very good health to start with. If his health was not so good before being diagnosed with cancer and the surgery that followed, then he can expect some complications in his recovery. If the tumour did break through the outer wall of the colon and any of the Lymph Nodes are effected, then he will almost have no choice but to go through the 6 month Chemotherapy which will most definitely take him away from his political duties, much like what has happened with President Chaves of Venezuela. The fact that Erdogan is only making short trips and meetings at the moment is normal and I would not read too much into it. He will need 8-10 weeks to fully recover just from the surgury alone. This is why I think it will take about 3 months from surgery to find out whether Erdogan will need further cancer treatment or not, and if so, most likely it will be in the form of Chemotherapy, in which neither he or the Turkish Press will be able to hide or deny.

You must be talking about my criticism of the Turkish Press and the cowardly journalist without any Journalistic Integrity when it comes to writing the facts rather than being just mouthpiece for the government and not about Erdogan's health issues, since I have not said anything bad regarding Erdogan's health.

First of all, thank you for agreeing with me that the most of the Turkish Journalist who write for the Turkish Press have no Journalistic Integrity and that they are only a mouthpiece for the government and that they do not write the facts as they should.

I do not need to walk in their shoes since they themselves made the decision to become Journalist and were not forced into one. They have the responsibility to tell the Turkish population the facts and not distortions or half truths. Keeping the Turkish Population ignorant of the facts surely is worse than being accused of being anti- government in this day and age, specially when the EU is watching Turkey's every move they make against journalists. Yes, there are few brave Journalist with Integrity who do dare the government, but the rest are cowards that they are. They should be ashamed to call themselves "Journalist".

What makes this claim not believable, is the fact that Polyps, benign or cancerous, are removed during Colonoscopy rather than through laparoscopic surgery. Only Tumours and effected Lymph Nodes are removed through this method and not Polyps.

Perhaps Erdogan thinks it is not very manly to admit to have had tubes stuck into his body through the backside.

Time will tell what the truth is.

Erdogan brushes off cancer claims

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has denied that he has cancer.
He told journalist Ali Birand that his doctors had told him not to overdo it, after surgery that he had in November. The Turkish PM said he had benign polyps removes from his intestines in the laparoscopinc surgery.

Having had a colonoscopy last week I can confirm that that is the usual way polyps are removed. It's no joke, you have to fast for 24 hours and take Moviprep to empty the digestive tract. The scope goes right round to the appendix, the bowel actually collapses 'cos there's nothing in it so they blow you up with air. After the procedure you fart for hours  . I wanted to see what was going on inside me on the screen but dozed off.

My dad had a bowel tumour removed by laparosc...., he died a year after the operation of bowel cancer aged 94

Jerry, Erdogan may be doing a Bill Clinton on this one, as in what the definition of "is" is. Erdogan may have had a cancerous tumour removed through surgery and now he no longer has any cancerous tumours, hence not having cancer. If this is the case, they sure, he is correct, that he does not have cancer.....now!

In theory, we all have cancerous cells at any one time. It's only our immune systems (mostly) that stop them progressing and becoming a problem.
