TURKEY AND THE EU

Turkey gets EU advice as Croatia gets assenthttp://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkey-gets-eu-advice-as-croatia-gets-assent.aspx?pageID=238&nID=8870&NewsCatID=338

BRUSSELS / ISTANBUL
“Ankara and Zagreb look to be heading in opposite directions as the EU doles out advice 8) to former while welcoming the latter to the club”

“Two countries intent on entering the European Union, Croatia and Turkey received contrasting news Dec. 9 from the 27-nation organization. As Zagreb signed its accession treaty with the bloc, Turkey received only mild criticism and advice from the EU despite its half-century wait :bawling: at the union’s door.

The EU council’s draft conclusion circulated Dec. 9 is likely to disappoint the Turkish government as it includes criticisms on issues including Cyprus  and press freedom. Turkey’s accession process is at a standstill despite a robust economic performance that shines compared to many EU countries that have been struggling with a crippling debt crisis. Croatia is set to join the bloc July 1, 2013.”
p.s. I think those bast... of the EU Council should be decapitated

Maybe you should ask helsingfors and all those who agree that "Turkey is a natural part of Europe".

It would be wiser if you were to lookup the words "natural" and "cultural".

Kimon thank you for the post.

I have to say I get a sense of joy reading that EU is criticising Turkey over Cyprus as well as other changes that Turkey needs to make in order to gain entry into the Club but isn't meeting its obligations.

France vs Turkey

Turkish reaction piles up against Sarkozy ahead of genocide denial vote
13 December 2011 / TODAY’S ZAMAN, ANKARA
A mild rift between Turkey and France now runs the risk of evolving into a heated debate as Turkish officials exchange words with the French president in a dispute over Turkish membership in the EU.
In the midst of this, Ankara repeated its warning to the French parliament to reconsider a resolution it will vote on next week that would penalize denying the alleged Armenian genocide......

US vs TurkeyAnti-Turkey Bill in US House of Representatives.

14 December 2011 / TODAYSZAMAN.COM,
An anti-Turkey bill in Washington, D.C., which calls on Turkey “to safeguard its Christian heritage and to return confiscated church properties” was approved in the US House of Representatives on Tuesday with two votes cast in favour of the bill out of three members who attended the voting session.
The bill, titled House Resolution 306 and supported by Armenian lobbies in the US, was first introduced in June to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs as the “Return of Churches” resolution by Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA) and Rep. Howard Berman (D-CA). In addition to advocating for the return of confiscated churches, schools and hospitals and providing freedom of worship to Turkey's Christian communities, the resolution also blamed the Ottoman Empire for “intentional destruction” of its Christian population, tacitly approving the allegations of an Armenian genocide....
