Does it really matter what his true religion is?
Mustafa Kemal (the one Turks call "Ataturk") was, many of the "Young Turks" were and many prominent Turkish politicians, military and business people were and are, according to some sources.
Personally I doubt it for Erdogan. The crypto Jews (Doenmehs) of Turkey and previously of the Ottoman lands were never exhibiting fanatic devotion to Islam as Erdogan does. On the contrary they suppressed Islam (just like Kemal did).
