Turkey rehashing the Ports debacle again…

“Turkey would open ports to Cyprus, no diplomatic strings”
http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/11/ ... VC20111128

The article's title is misleading as Turkey is still insisting on allowing flights to the occupied Tymbou airport, but it’s not gonna happen Turkey because the Ankara protocol you signed in 2005 stipulates the extension of your customs union to the EU with no strings attached!

What a bore when you're going round in circles!

Yep. This is the same re-hashed tripe that Bagis keeps serving up. Apparently, the EU is fed up with Bagis's clownish antics...

EU patience wearing thin as Bagis rebuffs Cyprus over ports

Egemen Bagis, Turkey’s chief negotiator for EU accession talks has further isolated Ankara from Brussels after a series of provocative remarks to reporters at the Institute for European Studies.

Asked about Turkey’s refusal to open its ports and airports to Cyprus, Bagis said that “whenever Air France, British Airways and Lufthansa start to fly to Ercan Airport in TRNC [Occupied Tymbou], then Turkey will open all its ports, airports and air space to Greek Cypriot ships and planes.”

Bagis’ latest statement, coupled with Ankara’s refusal to co-operate with the EU during the Cyprus Presidency next year, could set Turkey’s EU course back years.

Turkey knows that the EU are not prepared to cut ties and hence she threatens and behaves the way that it does. Turkey knows she can continue to threaten and occupy Cyprus because she has the support of the British.
