I wonder if there is a good Jazz club in Larnaca area? Or a cozy restaurant with live Jazz music perhaps? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I dont think there is any proper jazz club in Cyprus.

Not sure about Larnaca but you may check 7Seas in Limassol as they do have live jazz time to time.

I did recommend that you should check out the 'Blue Pine Restaurant' in Larnaka yesterday (is this the same request ?).

Whereas the establishment is NOT specifically a 'Jazz Club', I am sure you will receive a great deal of help there, it DOES fit your criteria as a cosy (and if I may be so bold) most interesting venue and the food is good (though some say a little expensive).

Good luck with your search.

Do yourselves a favour, check the scene out in Greece first. If its big in Greece it'll be big in Cyprus.
Jazz has virtually no place in Greek culture therefore a real jazz establishment in Cyprus will be near impossible to locate.

Greek culture can be summed up almost exclusively by the following: Politics: New Democracy/PASOK, Football: Panathinaikos/Olympiakos - Bouzouki/Coffee/frappe - Mezze/beer - beach/ouzo.
Cypriots will bend over backwards to try prove their Greekness by emulating greek systems. Any new or modern concept is shunned, anything innovative and fresh is rejected.

Good luck.

Cap, whereas you may have a point (or several) regarding your assessment of 'Greek Culture', I must beg to differ when it touches on my own experiences at the 'Blue Pine Restaurant'.

The establishment has several large T.V. screens in various locations and a chat with any one of the staff will prompt them to pander to the customer's requests.

I have often viewed some excellent recordings of 'Jazz Musicians' there (old and new) but do not know if they stage any 'Live' performances.

Well worth a visit (imho) if only to wander around and view some of the very interesting 'Props' on display both upstairs and down, catering for ALL tastes in musical terms.

To Cap!
I understand what you mean dear Cap ….. I live in Cyprus permanently for the last 9 years…. Married with a Cypriot….unfortunately my husband doesn’t share my interest in Jazz… We are visiting many nice places, listening wonderful Greek music… I have a great collection of classic Jazz music, but sometimes it’s just not enough...Concerning Greece; I was really surprised to find in Athens a really good Jazz club! It’s “Half Note” club! One could really enjoy all sorts of Jazz music there. I have attended several performances and been truly fascinated with quality and nice atmosphere! By the way ; we have one branch of it in Limassol as well! Thanks for reply, Lovely week to you!

In Limassol there is Jazzy-b and also a Jazz Festival that takes place every year. Jazz is foreign to Cyprus and it is not mainstream even in America. With that in mind I would say that recently we have more Jazz than what I would expect.
