When the going gets tough! call on Turkey to sort it out

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

...it is a polite way of saying that Turkey is important (by population alone), and that it has responsibilities to the status quo of which they are a partner.

one can hope a great deal for Turkey with all her potential. the flattery in this regard should not overwhelm anyone because there are great challenges ahead. not unlike Greece the darling, with great growth over many years, less than a decade ago; the Turks too have a problem with the value of their currency which when related to debt seems to be headed in the same direction.

...erdogan it seems is a mini bush in a little usa, with his singlemindedness; that too boads many warnings to the Turkish economy if he leads them now to war (Cyprus, Syria, the Kurds in Iraq, even Greece), if their government in their foreign affairs (as the Russians are saying) does not choose wisely.

...it is doubtful that he will find a way to keep his mouth shut, or to change in such a way that his efforts will make him a hero to the rest of the world. toward more turmoil, flames will be fanned.

I totally agree with GR's analysis on this issue...
Turkey is once again acting as America's deputy sheriff in the ME while the USA is concentrating on China's possible rise as the most prominent player in the Asian/Pacific region....The more things change in world politics the more they stay the same....

What good ol' uncle sam is sh*tting his pants about is not the rise of China as the main player in Asia/Pacific but as a major player in the world and with rise of China the USA may find it cannot throw its weight around so much.m in particulare as with massive debt problems of its own the US ecomony is not in a good state.

I agree,Supporttud....I was being deliberately geographical...I think this US President knows the game is up...I am not sure what he can do about it though...Probably f**k all...

...indeed, China is a middle country and a good neighbour with Turkey, like Brazil and Pakistan; they are players in a war that will need finance and material, for control of the wider political-geographic sphere of asia near and not so far.

...yup dumb old Usa will they run to the lowest bidder, or 'betray' them, their defence jobber Turkey, which is more than willing (it seems) what with the new radar installation, it will be interesting if this melds with Russia's naval designs in Syria for a port there; who will be fighting who for/against what?

...but it gets more complicated with so many blocks opening, especially if december's report for gaz are stellar.

@ b, dude! hi,eh.
