Fundraising status...

So far I have raised 18 pounds but I hope to reach 1000 by next week.

Sounds like he's raising enough for his flight over to Cyprus.

As you will know from above a certain former forumer, who's name can't be mentioned in this polite society, is undertaking an arduous 10 mile sponsored walk here in London this coming Saturday to raise some funds to do some shopping for the youngsters occupying the buffer zone in Nic.

Escow and shopper in CY is sorted.

Now keep in mind that the Unmentionable Walker is somewhat overweight so the chances of him/her making the 10 miles without a pulmonary are slight and the walk goes through Richmond Park where there is a herd of deer, so there is every possibility of an arrest for an "unnatural act".

... but seriously for a mo, and you may or not agree with this... don't necessarily see eye to eye with the occupiers on all they seek. Almost all of us will agree that there has to be an "End to Division" but the anti-capitalist side of the message won't sit comfortably with many, but do bear in mind please that that is the world-wide model of the age.

These youngsters are shoving to The Man, to the Greek Man, to the Turkish Man and to the UN Man and who knows but they may make a bigger difference to the World than old farts like me and Bir.

They should be supported if only for their bright hopes for a better future, their willingness to meet with other CYs to find common ground, their right to protest (even when we may not agree with all they demand) and most, most importantly to support the very real reality on the ground that there are now a few square yards of CY in that damnable waste-land of a buffer zone that is really, really a truly United Cyprus for the first time in decades.

As for the rest of you, so far being shown to be tight-fisted Cheapskates, can you please have a long think about how you are going to support the occupation of the buffer zone by some very brave and cold CYs.

Perhaps the CYs amongst you will recognise that these young boys and girls have achieved massively by liberating a small part of CY so if you think about it from that angle they have achieved far, far more than all the politicians, all the Talks, all the Great Powers and the UN over all these decades.

A massive achievement that is worthy of your support.

So pleeeeese make a pledge to the 10 mile Sponsored Walk this coming Saturday so we can get a bag or two of shopping to the occupiers.
