Turkey Apologises

Postby bill cobbett » Wed Nov 23, 2011 9:41 pm

Well, well, well and surprise, surprise, Erdogan becomes the first Turkish PM to recognise and apologise for the killings of 13,000 Kurds in the 1930's by aerial bombardment and poison gas.

The BBC writes... The killings took place between 1936 and 1939 when the Kurdish population of the south-eastern region of Dersim - now known as Tunceli - resisted the efforts of the newly formed Turkish republic to exert its authority there.

interesting how the article states that the Kurds are suspicious from an apology. Anyone in their right mind will have to be suspiscious of Gul and the Turkish government.
