It's a small microchip installed along with the SIM card allowing a hardward unlock to phones that were originally locked to a carrier. Works a treat.
Fropm their site: Gevey Sim has the ability to unlock an iPhone 4 on baseband 2.10.04 , 3.10.01 and 04.10.01 running iOS 4.x.x
