How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Erm... some news of a Street Carnival Parade organised by some people associated with the Occupy.

Same group that had soooo much trouble courtesy of the heavy presence of the Nicosia Police around Xmas.

Planned for 25th February starting at 3pm, route to be announced.

Here's a poster ...

More on this at... http://www.facebook.com/events/341980342509263/

and on the next day, Sunday 19th February, there is the combined march or marches starting at the Ledra Palace.

This second protest has been featured on RIK, here is a replay in Greek put up on youtube by our grokked...

...did the minister visit the Occupation Protest as well?

if not, pity. Cypriots need all the help they can get if there is to be any movement away from the debate being between "Greeks" and "Turks".

Couple of protest events for a Demilitarised Nicosia and a Reunified CY this Saturday 18th Feb...

First off at 1pm from Eleftheria Square is a Bikeride For a Demilitarized Nicosia org'd by the group Critical Mass.

Then immediately after the bike protest at 2.30pm there will be two parallel marches on both sides of the Nicosia Green Line.

The ("northern") Cypriot march sets off from the Ledra Palace Traffic Lights at 2.30pm on February 18th

The ("southern") Cypriot march departs from the Occupy at the top end of Ledras St - Lokmaci at the same time.

With a party promised at the Occupy in Ledras at the end.

For Tr speakers...
Askersiz Lefkoşa için, 18 Şubat 14:30’da,
- kuzeyde Ledra Palace ışıklarında buluşup
- güneyde ise Ledrada buluşup
bizi ve Kıbrıs’ı ikiye bölen yıkılası tel örgülere doğru karşılıklı yürüyoruz.

For Gr speakers...

Big day tomorrow for a couple of groups associated with the Occupy, with a Bike Protest followed by two simultaneous Marches on both sides of the Green Line for a Demilitarised Nicosia without barbed wire.

Details as posted by the Occupiers...

You can join Critical Mass for a bikeride dedicated to a Demilitarised Nicosia starting at 13h00 at Eleftheria Square. Critical mass will be joining the Demilitarised Nicosia march at the Eleftheria Square (15h00). Demilitarised Nicosia march at the south of the city will start from the end of Ledra Square (14h30). At the north of the city wall, the march will start from the traffic lights leading to Ledra Palace crossing and will be marching to Yiğitler Burcu. There (Pafos Gate), forces from both sides will meet, barbed wire between them - a ridiculous dividing presence. With our march we proclaim that we want no armies, dividing lines or barbed wire to divide its people and scar our beautiful city.

After: We will meet back again at the Ledra st/Lokmaci buffer zone where we will party at the #OBZ (Astral Projection Party) starting at 18h00, to support the movement.

Hateh reh B25... you should know have many fingers and they're in many pies... :D

... after all no one person or group has the answer to our little problem, but the Occupy and the associated and novel direct actions by a younger generation are a part of the wide range of opinions and approaches and they offer a fraction of a solution, how small or big, only time will tell.

... and anyway without PROTEST, where will we get file????
