I wonder if the movement will have similar impact on the Turkish occupation of the 'trnc' and of course Cyprus as it has had for the Egyptian cause/

Egyptians are not a minority in their own country.
The 'trnc' is mostly populated by mainland Turks, like VP, who are only loyal to Turkey.

An update on the Occupation of the Buffer Zone.

The Occupiers are coming through the coldest nights of the CY year in seemingly good spirit.

The Occupiers write...

We are surviving quite well in the most difficult days of Cyprus winter, in this lawless zone;) Occupy Buffer Zone is alive and going, with activities nearly every day. Phase 2 success. We need your support though. Especially the living team. If you have free days and strength for the cause, bring your matt and sleeping bag and join the crew! There must be space in some tents and if not there's indoors as well. If anyone wants to use the activity centre to organize something contact us! Come join the community and make our voice louder!

Interesting activities include…

Count the droplets.
Watch me fall asleep.
Widest yawn.
Loudest fart.
Tell a GC or TC joke in English so it doesn’t make sense.
Sing… “We shall overcome!” (the weather)

Erm ... numbers don't matter VP, as you will remind us when your power comes back on, it's a matter of "equal communities".

Oh... and speaking of power...

The Occupiers will be joining the down-trodden workers and others of the Occupied Areas in what is being billed as a massive demo.

The Occupiers call for CY Unity when they write...

In the "north" side of our divided island the 'representatives' of the "Turkish Cypriot community" are planning to sell-off the electricity company to foreign corporations (from Turkey). A massive demonstration supported by most of the Turkish Cypriot Unions is planned for next Monday 30/01/12.

For this purpose we are meeting on this coming Wednesday to prepare our presence in these demonstrations.

It is time for all communities in Cyprus to start showing solidarity to each other and unite to stop our island from being sold off.

Good to see a new breed of TC emerging. Who knows they may be the ones who resolve it in a democratic way one day.

Either them or the American word as they see the benefits of a united cyprus in a bid to secure Europe with energy resources which they are not about to gift Cyprus.
