You are right supporttheunderdog. So it seems not even the Germans in their majority supported the Nazis, and yet the Turks in their overwhelming majority support the Nazi fascist practices of their state for decades, and not even one of the major political parties supports anything different. Not only they refuse to recognize their crimes of the past (like Germans did) but they continue with more and more crimes as we speak.

On a side note, Hitler at least got 37% of the votes. In Cyprus the TCs want to be able to elect a president with less than 10% of the votes (of which most could come from Turkish Settlers). In Turkey with less than 10% you don't even get a single seat in the parliament, and in Cyprus they want that same percentage to elect a president!

Ioannides was not elected, he was imposed. Sampson, the Cypriot coupist, was not only elected, he was THE LEADER OF THE MOST POPULAR PARTY in Cyprus at the time.

if you recall there was no Popular Movement to support the coup, no Greeks on in the streets. if Sampson was its leader it was not a Cypriot (or Greek) coup , although it was a "Greek" coup.

...so much fuss, what, is it the Greek flag? is it the fact that the trnC flag is not on display? is it that the young people in the photograph are actually smiling, as opposed to mugging it for the International Press?

...maybe these were the flags they had, and this is how their display developed. Maybe they realised that and given the venue, they were prepared to defend their personal views personally, to learn, in hope of creating the dialog that is so needed; instead of being judged so quickly by a far off internet reader.

Nation is a state of mind, it may have a State, but to exist it needs only people as Persons who will sustain its existence.

...if you are Cypriot you betray its Heritance without rising above the history of Greeks (and/or Turks), Cyprus is older.
