The EuroAsia Interconnector, the world’s longest submarine electricity cable reaching 540 nautical miles at a depth of 2000 meters and delivering 2000 MW, is set to be built between Israel, Cyprus and Greece, according to a new agreement signed on March 4th in Haifa.

Nicosia, Cyprus – Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Mr. Sylikiotis has announced late afternoon yesterday (30th Oct., 2012) the shortlist of companies with which the Cyprus Government will commence negotiations regarding concessions for offshore blocks in the Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The decision follows an invitation by the Government, in Jan. 2012, during which 12 sea blocks, residing in the South East part of the Cypriot EEZ, were offered for exploration and exploitation. Of the 12 offshore blocks the Government has decided to grant 4 permits for four blocks.
