TMT had a role in setting up "enclaves" as a cynical stepping stone to Taksim. I know a linimbambako crypto christian here in Sydney who told us that TMT tried to use violence to intimidate people the TMT thought were Turks into "enclaves". Its part of your mythology that EOKA created enclaves. There were some genuinely scared Turkish Cypriots who formed enclaves but many Turkish Cypriots were also forced by the Turkish Extremist groups to separate themselves.

And the rest were told to cross the attilla line!!!!!!!!

...white free christmas, first thing that comes to mind is that flag that scars the mountainside disappears, that most certainly would be a little miracle; talk about dreaming.

humanist can speak for himself, and frankly i can't imagine it means anything else...

I suggest that there will be a Greek Cypriot Flag and a Turkish Cypriot Flag, as well as a flag that represents the Republic of Cyprus: that's Bicommunal.

at this point i don't think the dialog between us matters much, vp, (or matters too much) to you (which is why you of all people, ignore me); just my opinion for what it's worth, but what do i know, i am not a "Greek", and i come from a "mixed" village.

"the money" will be a belle cadeau to our State, "Turkish" and "Greek" are internal matters, they will remain that way unless Turkey wants to start WW III..

Court decision may scupper Turkish plans to drill in Cyprus

A decision by the Court of the European Communities concerning control over the continental shelf may prove a decisive factor in blocking moves by Turkey to conclude agreements with the occupied part of Cyprus and start hydrocarbon exploration on the ground and in the sea.

The decision, issued in an unrelated case concerning responsibility for accidents in the exclusive economic zones of member countries states that the continental shelf is a natural projection of the land mass of states.

It also says that each states has sovereign rights on its continental shelf for the purpose of exploration and development of natural resources.

States also have exclusive jurisdiction over all stationary of moving structures in their exclusive economic zones.

Noble to drill second well

Noble Energy will be back in Block 12 for more drilling sometime in the third quarter of this year, its Vice-President said yesterday. In the coming months, he said, Noble would be “digesting” the data obtained during the first drilling phase, at the conclusion of which the Houston-based company had announced a find of between 5 and 8 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of natural gas at a depth of 5,860 meters.

“We’ve only drilled a pinhole so far,” Tomich said.

Noble’s next step would be to use this data to carry out engineering studies for the necessary facilities (for example the wellheads) as well as for a pipeline running from the field to the island’s southern shores.

Depending on the outcome of follow-up drilling, the quantities of gas within Block 12 would be appraised upward or downward, he noted.

He cited the example of Israel’s Leviathan field, which was recently re-appraised to 20 tcf from the initial assessment of 16 tcf.

Asked whether the recent excitement in Cyprus over the gas find is justified, Tomich said:

“Absolutely. It’s a fantastic discovery, a significant asset.

(Reuters) - Cyprus's state-owned electricity authority (EAC) said it would take part in a feasibility study on an underwater power cable that would link Israel and Cyprus to continental Europe and carry up to 2,000 megawatts in either direction.
