What is their ethnicity?

Postby Sotos » Sun Oct 30, 2011 4:14 am

The biggest ethnic group in Cyprus is Greek and the secondary ethnic group is Turkish. Then there are small groups like the Armenians, Latins and Maronites and also immigrants that came more recently like British and Russians. But there is a small minority in Cyprus who say that they do not belong in any of these ethnic groups and they claim that they grew out of the soil of Cyprus  Of course nobody with above average IQ will believe such bullshit ;) I say that most of them are Arabs or Gypsies. Considering the position of Cyprus it would be inevitable to have some Arabs here and we all know that some Gypsies came to Cyprus also who learned Greek and Turkish but they never really changed. What do you think?

I have no idea, but people with an ID crisis could be categorised as Gypsy.

You must be referring to the mouflon (Ovis orientalis ophion). A sub-species of wild sheep endemic to Cyprus:

Not really ... those people do not say that they are a sub-group of any greater group ... they say they are a totally separate group that grew from the soil of Cyprus

How about Phoenicians? I know that some GCs do claim that Cypriots are of Phoenician origin. They are supporters of AKEL and Omonia usually and some of them burn Greek Flags during football games. I think they are also called “Neo-Cypriots”.

This robust movement of Cypriot Nationalism which is sweeping before you, and which you're most fortunate to witness since you are presented with an opportunity to join our ranks, is a movement that glorifies the Cypriot identity above all others. The movement is bi partisan, and comprises individuals which do not require any attachments to the so called "mothers" because we are a strong nation of people that will forge ahead through sheer adversity and sacrifice, to carve out our very own destiny, glorify our own history and nurture our own identity and not adopt any unwanted disease ridden, uncivilized 3rd world traits of either Greece or Turkey. Many of us are neither supporters of AKEL or Omonoia, and find Christofias an embarrassment. We are just Nationalists. And you can become one too.

We are here, Cypriot and proud and we stand tall and will strike at the heart of evil that has infiltrated many poor Cypriot souls.

No problem with your Cypriot nationalism ;) But what is your ethnicity if it is not Greek or any of the known ethnic minorities?
