On one hand he portraits Greeks as the most incompetent nation in the world, and at the same time he wants to convince us that the Greeks have somehow managed to trick the Cypriots into believing that they are Greek, while Cyprus was under Ottoman and British occupation!

Get Real, I would suggest to you to first try to gain some common sense, and secondly to educate yourself on the subject. And since you don't trust Greek education, then you can take a course at any good university anywhere in the world, which is likely to have a classics department where you can learn as much as you want about the Greek civilization.

America and Australia have created their own civilisation as distinct from the British, Irish or Germanic.

And Greece was the receiver of Cypriot Civilisation, so Greek is a modern construct and is indeed misleading. They face 2 choices:

1) develop their own civilisation just like America and Australia have, or
2) accept that they are 3rd world Ottomans who were once Cypriot.

My point was not that the people in America or Australia have not developed their own somewhat distinct cultures (but still heavily influenced from their European roots - language, religion and almost everything is very European).

My point was that when the British went to these places they (the British) already had a developed civilization and they didn't need to mix with the Native Americans or Aboriginals in order to create it. In Cyprus on the other hand, when the first Greek speakers came here they didn't have any great civilization. They mixed with other populations in Cyprus and all other Greek parts, and the Greek civilization arose gradually later, out of this integrated population.

Civilizations are not created by decisions "hey, lets make a new civilization". Those that have in their agenda to artificially create some separate "Cypriot ethnicity" are only working against the interests of the Cypriot people and have as an aim to keep Cyprus isolated from the rest of Greeks, making it easier for themselves to exploit our island on our expense. It is no surprise that most of those who support such things are Turks and British (those who keep parts of our island under occupation) and those who were educated under the British and Turkish systems.

All you need to do is look at the migratory patterns and then work out who was first. Cypriots or Greeks? From here you can understand that Greek is a false construct that never existed, and that they stole our Cypriotness and called it Greek. Once a thief and a tax dodger, always a thief.
