Get Real!, these are good points but they don't change anything. The Greek language somehow, even if not by numerically important migrations, found its way to Cyprus and it somehow became dominant throughout the island with few exceptions (Amathus and Kition basically) and even those exceptions disappeared in Hellenistic times or thereabouts.

Similarly, from Archaic to Hellenistic times relations between Cyprus and the rest of the Greek world (please don't whine at the term again) strengthened to the degree that Greek sacred envoys visited Cypriot cities and Cypriots visited mainland Greek centers. For Roman up to Ottoman times, little needs to be said: most of the time, all Greeks were part of the same political entity and there's a reason they ALL used the same ethnonym (Romios) up to modern times. Greek nationalism was also very successful in Cyprus in modern times, with the exception of "Cypriotists" who made their voices heard mostly post-1974.

Everyone can make whatever choices they want (ideologically, politically etc.) but there's no need to deny or distort everything that occurred in the last 3000 years.

There is no Cypriot Ethnicity. The term Cypriot refers to the local population of Cyprus most of whom are of the Greek ethnicity. The Ottomans differentiated people by calling them Christians and Muslims. They didn't need to invent anything Next thing you will be telling us that Ottomans forced Cypriots to speak in Greek If we go by your definition then Turkish Cypriots, Armenian Cypriots, Latin Cypriots etc are not Cypriots.

Now then, if GCs do not belong to the Greek ETHNOS how come the GC dialect is exactly the same with that of the Cycladic Islands? Even the pronunciation is exactly the same. Being in a village in Rodos, for instance, and listening to the locals speaking in their local dialect, one thinks he is in Cyprus. What happened? Have the people of Rodos invaded Cyprus or are they Cypriots? Or are we Rodites?
And how come our grand parents and some elders who never went to school used and still use ancient greek forms of speech such as “pothen eisai”, “pou pasin” “hamai” “pomine” (= ypomine) instead of “perimene” e.t.c.? Is this "gymnasium rubbish"?
Now, to those who claim that all Cypriots belong to the same “Cypriot Ethnos”. Are you sure TCs, Armenians, Maronites and Latin Cypriots feel the same?? Hardly. As far as I know they are very proud of their ethnicity and they are not ashamed of it nor do they try to hide it or to reject it.
