The biggest ethnic group in Cyprus is Greek and the secondary ethnic group is Turkish.

The main ethnic group of Cyprus is of course Cypriot!

The "Greek" in the "Greek Cypriot" label stems from a MANUFACTURED political pseudo name invented by the Ottomans who needed to differentiate between the native Christians and the imported Muslims on the island for tax and other purposes.

An ethnic group (or ethnicity) is a group of people whose members identify with each other, through a common heritage, often consisting of a common language, a common culture (often including a shared religion) and/or an ideology that stresses common ancestry or endogamy.

It follows that the natives of ANY given country inherit the ethnicity bestowed upon them by their ancient ancestors and not that of irrelevant people from far away lands!
