Don't matter if you're Erdogan with the World's Biggest Fleet of Sardine Trawlers or the unpaid Muhktar of a small village in CY ... power is so sought after and soooo diff to relinquish... and as the truism says, it's so corrupting.

Yes absolutely!

So I wonder why it was necessary to write 2 pages of nonsense.... :?

Quite Newbie Get Smart... welcome to the nonsensical world of CF...

Would anyone agree that the people to admire are those who have changed the World for the better and left huge legacies without seeking political power.

People like Mahatma Gandhi come to mind. People with Ideas. A good many pheeelosofers etc. People who have inspired generation after generation.

(just have to look up what a galiganjaros is)

Erm ... why are you holding a slipper to your ear?

It's a shoe phone. I was probably speaking to the Chief.

I hope you hadn't stepped in any of that dog poo those ex-pat Brits' dogs leave everywhere! :)

In my experience most of the Doggies that leave doggy poo everywhere are Cyprus doggies, who (if they are not inhumanly chained up /in a cage) are often just left to run lose in the steets cr*pping where they like.

An 'Intellectual' is a person who spends a great deal of time studying and thinking about complicated issues..... Thank you for the compliment.

I quite fail to understand how the term 'Dandyism' may be applied to describe a person who spends the greater part of his life among displaced persons.

As to 'Treason', if the word is applied correctly to one's actions, many politicians are guilty of precisely such (relative to the overthrow of other nations).

How nice to become acquainted with one who also (along with millions of others) mistrusts politicians, the question IS, what to do about the situation?.

I'm not quite as cynical to mistrust all politicians because I know that some are there for the right reasons, and are quite ethical despite popular sentiment.
