Sending a ship is one thing. Actually drilling in another country's EEZ is another. I doubt any Norwegian company would expose itself to the threat of litigation from the RoC. All bluff and bluster from the Turks I'm afraid...

Fully agree with you. Waste of money for the Turks. Besides, whatever they may find in the seabed of the EEZ of CY will belong to CY.

Yep... all bluff and bluster...

The Oceanic Challenger has left Antalya and is confining its survey to Turkish waters, within a dozen miles of the Turkish coast and well, well away from CY waters.

The World's Most Hyped-Up Sardine Trawler the Piri Reis put in a fleeting appearance yesterday about 40 miles south of Limassol, but has disappeared again. The last time it vanished from the radar it had limped home with a knackered engine... suspect it's broken down again.

Gosh, they must be violating CY airspace! The Anatolians do it all the time!

Say what?
They've never violated CY airspace? This is actually in collaboration with the RoC and they have our permission?

Dang......

Thanks for the info on the third and fourth of these boats.

Our old friend the Sardine Trawler Piri Reis seems to be under way again and according to marine traffic.com is in Lebanese waters! Anyone check this please...

...Lebanon, another 'friend' that needs Turkey's help.

...still can't figure out how Syria will get the help she needs from her 'friend', Turkey.

...somehow I bet the seismic readings Turkey gets won't be the same as those from Israel and Cyprus, afterall Turkey is great, these countries are not 'friends'.

Oceanic Challenger still keeping well within Turkish waters at a survey speed of around 5 knots, travelling an eastern course parallel to the Turkish coast, about a dozen miles off.

Looks like the ship's owners the French Firm CNG Veritas are deffo respecting the CY EEZ...

... so much for all the bravado and bluster from Turkey about sending survey ships in to CY waters which has been much reported in the Press... shame none of the media have followed up on this nonsense from Turkey and actually checked where this ship is working.

YFred says:
But what about the new tactic, drill where ever you want and so will we?
After all it is not Turkey that is saying it is all mine, it is the RoC. Where as Turkey just wishes to share, now isn't that turn up for the books. Turkey has just joined the liberal world and the RoC the fascist.

Mind boggles!  :?

Made all the more mind boggling cos geological chance has meant all the prospects for gas/oil are in the southern, south-eastern and south-western CY waters and not in the northern waters... so the Turkish logic is to offer to share possible finds in CY waters (where prospects are excellent) and in return they'll offer to share the finds in Turkish waters where the prospects are next to negligible.

... it's all down to geological chance... :D

This is the track of the second survey ship The Thor Beamer.

Not a lot of info on this one and this data is a couple of days old, but again this one is also staying in what is undeniably Turkish EEZ.
