i live in north london; there are lots of jews and cypriots round here. and, i gotta tell you, i like doing business with jewish people.
i know where i stand with them. yes, they drive a hard bargain. yes, they look out for number one. but they work hard. they're efficient, they have integrity, intelligence, vision and respect. they look out for those they trust.
i got a feeling they really value the opportunity to have cypriots as friends. we understand each other. we're on the same wavelength.
Yes indeed.
This is hardly the bio of a menacing butcher of a race. But many anti semites would disagree.
I have a similar story to tell.
When in Cyprus, I was looking to buy my Yiayias old home, purely for sentimental reasons which my father had sold to a Cypriot. The house was worth about 180,000Euros tops. Village gossip got the better of me, and the new owner wanted 300,000+. I offered 280,000 just to see if the guy would accept, and he didn't. Now I keep getting calls to see if I am still interested. I followed on other leads, from Cypriot vendors, who quite frankly had very brutal unrealistic expectations as to their properties value.
I ended up buying from a Brit. And I got to say, even though I am Cypriot, I actually prefer doing business with Brits. They have integrity, intelligence, vision and respect. I can't say the same about Cypriots whenever a Euro is at stake. Unfortunately! But that is the truth from my eyes and from my personal experience.
I am still after my Yiayias house btw, but I am going to wait for the GFC to drive prices down even more, and then I am going back na tou kano ton manga!
