Bergen Surveyor Keeps to Turkish Waters

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Bergen Surveyor Keeps to Turkish Waters

Postby bill cobbett » Tue Oct 18, 2011 9:36 pm

In concentrating on the Clapped Out Sardine Trawler the Piri Reis we may have neglected the second survey ship the Bergen Surveyor in Turkey's Grandiose Plans to become a new Global Power in the oil and gas business.

We were led to believe that this second boat, a Norwegian survey ship, under charter to a French company (and there's no doubt about the capabilities of this boat) would carry out survey work in the CY EEZ...

... well according to its course on marinetraffic.com... it's sticking to Turkish waters...

I read somewhere that the RoC has lodged complaints with the Norwegian and French governments about the possible activities of this ship. Maybe they have put pressure on the companies involved?

Last I heard the French were sending a corvette to patrol Cyprus’ Block 12 gas prospect and would be patrolling the area for a month. Also reports suggest that French company Total will be given permission to explore the eastern blocks. All in all I'd say the French are on our side...

Yes, from the track in marinetraffic.com it may well be that the Republic has convinced Norway/France to keep out of CY waters... ????

I don't think this ship is in CY waters.
