Erm ... be very wary boys and girls... be very wary indeed of reading too much in to alleged positions of the sardine trawler.

We should be very aware of how easy it is to move a tracking transponder from one boat to another...

where are her escorts? what is the location, "GAZ" in red on the map? is that off the coast of Beirut?

...maybe she's doing seismic duty for the Lebanese, before their Parliament passes the Agreement Cyprus has made with them.

fishy to me (LOL)...

Quess what. Look at the satellite map now: http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/gr/def ... 10/16/2011 3:03:00 AM#.
The GC salvage ship "Argonaut" is sailing towards the Piri Reis. Can you imagine CY salvaging the bloody reck? ROC would be entitled to keep it against salvage fees according to Int. Maritime Law. They would then rent it out to Mr. Erdogan every Summer for cruises in the easter Med.
Somebody please tell mr. Erdogan he does not need to risk the necks of his people to find out if the sea bed of S.CY has gas and oil resources. ROC can sell to him all the data and information he needs.

Bad weather sees off the Peri-Peri Chicken...

The Turkish seismographic vessel Piri Reis has suspended operations due to inclement weather and may now return to the port of occupied Famagusta, according to reports on Turkish Cypriot radio.

The vessel, which ran into technical trouble last week, had just started conducting the second stage of seismic exploration near to the oil drilling platform of the Noble Energy firm...

Had we accepted the avnan plan, the Piri would now be in British EEZ. Funny how things turn out.

As for the weather. Many vessels are tracked in the area, and they are not facing problems with the weather. PR must be in some pitiful condition not to be able to work in Force 6. Dinghies sail in these conditions.

It would be fun to hear some crew dialogues and opinions about the people who sent them to sail in the tub.

Those of you in GB may have come across the BBC tv series called Trawlermen, which was real life aboard fishing boats in the North Sea.

Here is a bit of one episode where they are fishing, trawling and hauling nets and fish in Force 9 seas.

Terryfyingly big seas and these boys are working in them. As with all acts of bravery, it sometimes hard to know whether they are brave or very stupid.

In the case of the Peri Reis, ... they've just got a clapped out engine, these stories of rough seas are a cover-up for their failing, not fit for the job Pride of Turkey boat.

Have a look at this vid...
