precendent letter needed for ignorant journalists

Postby SKI-preo » Thu Oct 13, 2011 4:38 am

I have noticed that many non Turkish publications/journalists are cutting pasting from Turkish Foreign ministry press releases and using language like "Greek Cypriot Government" or "South Cyprus" instead of the Republic of Cyprus. Culprits include the Guardian and Rueters.

Can someone help me draft a statement which is 25 words or less which can be posted or sent to these bastard editors of these publications in Countries which allegedly only recognize the Republic of Cyprus as the only legitimate government on the island.

Other issues which shit me up the wall are statements like:

Cyprus was ethnically divided by Turkey following an Athens backed coup. Is this a euphemism for ethnic cleansing? This sound like Turkish fairies sprinkled magical pixie dust transporting Greek Cypriots to the Free Areas on a rainbow when the statements should specify the Turkish Airforce bombed and napalmed unarmed civilians while the Turkish Army conducted a scorched earth rape and pillage campaign named "Attila".

Some members of the Jewish media have now started using more accurate phrases like "the Turkish Army forceably expelled the mainly Greek propulation of the Northern part of Cyprus and repopulated the region with settlers from Turkey."

More than 25 words

QUOTE:
The correct way to describe "South Cyprus" is as the unoccupied area of the Republic of Cyprus, and the correct way to describe the Government is as The Government of the Republic of Cyprus. By virtue of the treaties of establishment The Government of the Republic of Cyprus is the lawful Government of the entire Island. The Turkish Cypriots voluntarily withdrew from participation in this Government in 1963, at the instigation of Turkey.

The correct way to describe the northern part of Cyprus, the so called "Turkish Republic of North Cyprus", is as the Turkish Military Occupied Zone. The so-called government of the "TRNC" is an unrecognised illegal puppet regime.

The so called "Intervention" or alleged peace operation of 1974, operation Attila, was a military invasion by Turkey, planned since the early 1960's. In this invasion many were Cypriots were murdered, raped and/or assaulted by the invading Turkish forces, and Some 200,000 Cypriot Citizens were forced out of their traditionally homes in what is now the occupied zone by ethnic cleansing. Their land and homes have been stolen and are now illegally occupied by settlers from Turkey.

I would be grateful if you would correct this article, and confirm you will refrain from using such incorrect descriptive phrases in future.
