Kikapu, i am surprised, no kidding.
To get rid of Erdogan, it would help for Turkey to suffer very badly economically, for the Turks to wake up that their country is going backwards with Erdogan. When people hurt badly economically, is when they decide to change leadership, even by the most ignorant and the uneducated in Turkey, which happens to be the majority. The question is of course, are there any good alternative leaders in Turkey to replace Erdogan? Turkey in general is a corrupt country, that goes from the very top to the common man on the street, so just replacing Erdogan, it will not make Turkey have the same values as the EU, hence the reason why Tukey will not make it into the EU anytime in this century.
I agree with what you are saying Kiks. It seems to me that a course of events has been triggered which may lead to some kind of economic embargoe or lifting of the customs union later down the line. I am waiting for Erdogan to screw up by pivoting towards the Shanghai 5 and declaring north Cyprus as Turkey or flood the EU with migrants or some sh..like that.
Cancelling the Custom Union would be one way to hit Erdogan but Europe has too much invested in, for example, in car manufacturing in Turkey. I doubt EU investors in that country would be too happy to see tariffs imposed on Turkey's exports.
maybe, but then the exchange rate will f them anyway when they try to get their money back in the euro to the EU.
