Turkeys EU membership negotions look like they are over.

The two largest groups in the European parliamant have asked for Turkeys EU membership negotiations to be halted.

The sooner the better for the EU to end membership talks with Turkey.

Next, the EU should impose economic sanctions against Turkey and travel ban to ALL it's EU citizens to Turkey.

Next, invite Trump to build a "Great Big Beautiful" wall along Turkish borders with the EU.

Next, blockade the Aegean sea against boats smuggling people to Greece from Turkey. Pay ordinary Greeks in Greece to use their own boats of any size to help the EU country navy to implement the blockade.

...i wish for Turkey great prosperity. Turkey is our friend (read: the West), but Erdogan is not.

...be careful what you wish for B25, rid of Erdogan and the deep state in Turkey that he represents would be nice. Soon you will be living his dream with the same attitude, no friends for neighbours.

To get rid of Erdogan, it would help for Turkey to suffer very badly economically, for the Turks to wake up that their country is going backwards with Erdogan. When people hurt badly economically, is when they decide to change leadership, even by the most ignorant and the uneducated in Turkey, which happens to be the majority. The question is of course, are there any good alternative leaders in Turkey to replace Erdogan? Turkey in general is a corrupt country, that goes from the very top to the common man on the street, so just replacing Erdogan, it will not make Turkey have the same values as the EU, hence the reason why Tukey will not make it into the EU anytime in this century.

I agree with what you are saying Kiks. It seems to me that a course of events has been triggered which may lead to some kind of economic embargoe or lifting of the customs union later down the line. I am waiting for Erdogan to screw up by pivoting towards the Shanghai 5 and declaring north Cyprus as Turkey or flood the EU with migrants or some sh..like that.

Seems he wants to now tear up the Lausanne Agreement and redefine the Aegean borders. Is this guy for real, seriously. Why can't they just bomb the cunt and be rid of him.

Cancelling the Custom Union would be one way to hit Erdogan but Europe has too much invested in, for example, in car manufacturing in Turkey. I doubt EU investors in that country would be too happy to see tariffs imposed on Turkey's exports.
