No, he hasn't decided to resign, but he has decided we need to have real casinos!!!

He previously said this would never happen with him as president.

Sorry, I can only find a link in Greek.

A boost for the economy of the free areas. A blow to the economy of the occupied areas. Should've happened a long time ago.

Yes, well don't really approve of gambling, but people must do what they want to do and to be pragmatic, rather like prostitution, it's an old established business and a lot of people do like a visit to a casino or to the horses etc , ... so guess it's ok as long as it's tightly regulated. We don't want any of the Mafia Money Laundering Extortions that go on in the Occupied Areas.

Dramatic U-turn on casino policy

Finance minister says legislation to be drawn up to create casinos in Cyprus

IN A STARK U-turn on government policy, Finance Minister Kikis Kazamias yesterday said legislation is being prepared for the operation of casinos in Cyprus.

“Many among us would probably never enter such establishments during our lifetime, but this does not mean that we should not respond to the needs of the age, taking into consideration the public interest,” Finance Minister Kikis Kazamias told the House Commerce Committee.

The government will very soon table a specific proposal before parliament regarding the operation of casinos, he said.

Blimey! He makes them sound like brothels! I wonder if the Church are on board with this? Maybe they've been promised a license!

Perhaps that is why the Archbishop wants such a big Church in the old town!
